Sonic X Shadow Generations thread, movie level out on the 12th

It is going to have Denuvo. I don't know why you guys keep fooling yourself.

 

...Who is fooling themselves? Two people acknowledged the possibility of it having Devuvo and expressed that it would be bad. Nobody is "fooling themselves".

 

Having thought about this for more than a brief moment, I can totally see them doing the usual double-dip approach with a Sonic Generations re-release, like this:

2024 - Sonic Generations Remaster
Digital only, basically very similar to the current Steam version with a few minor added bells 'n' whistles, some visual changes and the bare minimum compatibility / optimisation updates for modern Windows operating systems.

2025 - Sonic Generations Remaster Plus
Some more substantial additions and a physical release with the usual extra goodies like an art book and reversible cover. + - Some bugs introduced in the 2024 release are finally patched.  

Of course, I hope they just do it correctly right out of the gate and don't initially make it a digital only release, but I don't trust modern SEGA.

 

I would be very very surprised if they included a Mania-original stage; it would be a lot easier to recycle assets from Lost World, Forces, Frontiers, and or Superstars and call it a day. Maybe some Mania songs would pop up, but that's all I would realistically expect.

 

Ooh, that's a good point I didn't consider. I think the prospect of them beefing up the roster of unlockable music tracks is pretty high; maybe they could tie those new unlockable tracks to reaching score milestones in the Casino Night pinball table, give people an extra reason to rack up points beyond bragging rights and Skill Shop purchases.

Speaking of gameplay side content like that, I wonder if they'll completely omit the Genesis / Mega Drive and Sonic 1 playability in the Green Hill hub area, considering Sonic Origins' recent release. It'd be a funny scenario if they were to include a Sonic 1 ROM after de-listing the Sonic 1 ROM from Steam.

 

I'm just glad to potentially get Generations on Switch. Colors Ult satisfied my craving for "boost Sonic in bed" but now I need the high octane stuff too. I have Gens on PC for mods but I really don't like gaming on PC + the number of times I've had issues with getting Gens to start and/or not crash is infuriating.

Surprised Sega never bothered to bring a bunch of older Sonic games over to it with how well Sonic sells on Nintendo.

Also idc what they do with classic Sonic's physics, I'm praying they don't touch the spin dash, that's like a core part of Gens' identity to me

 

I personally hated the spindash in Gens. It felt as awkward as everything else about Classic Sonic. I'm all for overhauling his physics and controls, make him actually fun to play.

 

Yeah, the realization of this being inevitable has now completely ruined my incentive to buy or support it.

 

Funniest possible outcome is that the game releases with Unleashed's day stages included

 

That would actually be pretty neat if they were to add more music. Being able to play whatever track you wanted whilst blasting through each stage was one of Gens best features. Frontiers was given lots of old tracks to choose from so I'm all for more music being added.

 

I second this. If they hired someone else to port the Wii version as-is to Switch I'd have been happier. Insted they downgraded a questionable remaster and kept the game at 30fps.

I swear I'm gonna be really disappointed if Generations doesn't run at 60fps.

 

Shame that Unleashed is still stuck as a 7th gen console exclusive.

So kirk thorton shadow is going to be a skin swap that broods through modern sonic stages and... snubs classic sonic and tails when they show up?

There literally can't be a classic shadow because of the timeline (he'd be sleeping), so IDK how that even works.

If this is the title, parents are going to have a bad time searching this game.

Hear me out -

Shadow gets his own campaign in which each level is reimagined in SA1/2 style.

So now all the eras in the game (classic, Dreamcast, modern) are represented.

Alternatively, Shadow gets his own mini-campaign with three new stages.

I know it's way likelier this is just a skin or something lame, but the title and concept gives me hope this is more substantial than a typical remaster

 

If any of this is true, I can't help but think the Simpsons gag of Poochie is applicable here.
