Sonic X Shadow Generations thread, movie level out on the 12th

Itd be dumb for them to abandon their largest consumer base, most Sonic fans are on Nintendo these days after all. Honestly don't know why they don't just target the Switch from jump and scale up for other platforms, but I might be talking outta my ass saying that.

 

I’ve seen that clip and it has increased my confidence in the doom launch. I recall folks saying that Chaos Spear can also be used to speed up the homing attack. I really love how versatile shadow’s moveset is looking.

 

I think the levels still are less naturalistic than they should be when it comes to the “sculpting.” It kind of looks like large sections in Kingdom Valley are just extruded rectangles. It might be to deal with the faster movement and different gameplay style too though. 06 had more of these small hilly islands and closed-in areas.
I don’t think it’s bad overall though. This is clearly still an evolution of Unleashed.
It’s far better than anything in SA2’s (usually) single corridor + bottomless pits levels.

Yep, a pretty sick remix. I'd forgotten how good the original version sounds in Frontiers.

 

I honestly think it's fine, but this sound a downgrade from Sonic Frontiers' Cyberspace EDM songs. Heck, I'd dare to say even Sonic Forces.

It's not bad tho'.

 

I don't really like it. I think it sounds decent in some areas but as a whole it gives me Radical Highway Modern flashbacks.

I wished they used a specific Cyber Space song to remix, or maybe even a DJ mix or something, but it's good.

It's different and distinct from the original, which is more I can say for the Kingdom Valley remix.

Y'know, it really makes me wish the music was more variable in the levels. Imagine the EDM coming in during a Cyber Space like part, and the party section coming in on the natural island.

Saw responses comparing it to Sonic Spinball's option music and I'm ngl, I only think about that meme about "people who only listen to video game music"...

But then again I'm apparently one of those weirdos who thinks Press Factory Act 1 is one of the best OSTs in Superstars and specifically love the grinding parts so whatever.

 

I'm genuily happy with the soundtrack, but man, this game's soundtrack would be THE perfect opportunity to bring back Fumie Kumatari.

Sounds ...okay. It sounds like something that might grow on me when I'm hearing it in-game.

I'm interested in what these Act 2s will actually entail. We've only seen/heard Act 1s so far.

Honestly I hope they don't reveal them in the marketing; and I of-course hope they're actually good & exciting surprises in the actual game.

It’s not just Sonic either, I was just reading something about how Crash 4 was considered disappointing when it launched on PS4 and Xbox One, only to see a massive increase in sales when its Switch port came out a few months later (alongside the technically improved PC, PS5 and Xbox Series versions).

Selling a 3D mascot platformer on multiple systems and not including the Switch is a terrible business move, regardless of whatever compromises are necessary to make it work. Hopefully Switch 2 will launch soon and alleviate some of those issues, though I imagine we’ll still see OG Switch ports for these types of games for a good while. It’s not like every kid who’s Switch-only is going to suddenly upgrade to the more powerful hardware by its first holiday season.

The first half is mildly obnoxious I won't lie but it genuinely gets great after the build-up/breakdown from 1:15 until the end. I'm a fan of Drum and Bass in general so I don't mind it showing up again. I'd forgotten how nice Chaos Island's soundtrack was, man Sonic Frontiers has a really nice OST.

 

ngl, this track doesn't really do it for me. Sounds like it doesn't come together as a piece and dubstep and piano are constantly fighting each other
