Straight-up momentum-based wallrunning in an official game without even a dash pad to start you off is insane and even SA1/2/06 pretty much never went that raw with it. Very exciting to see and I think the scale difference in Kingdom Valley works fine considering the larger-than-life eagles everywhere. I only wish you could also use the SA1 skin with Shadow even if it'd make zero story sense.

Could it not be possible that the trailer version plays in an another level?

IMO I think it means the "final" in-game track will be longer, and probably have segments not heard in the trailer version. It brings to mind how P3Reload's opening theme "Full Moon Full Life" has both the track and an "Opening ver" on the OST release, or the numerous full vs "TV Size" anime opening themes.

Maybe, but it could be very weird if they do that.

Anyway, here's the Legacy Adventure model in action (well, it is mostly a GIF, but it kinda counts for now).

He can't even wink and yet still runs circles around the Unleashed model even using its own animations. The fluidity of that breakdance along with the motion blur is giving me serious Dreamcast commercial flashbacks.

This artwork looks cool, I'm guessing it's concept art made for SxSG. Shadow's right shoe looks like Sonic's so I wonder if they painted over a screenshot from Frontiers or something

I wouldn't surprised if that was the case, but I have to admit...I actually do like the design of these Shoes (as unintentional as that was). Yeah give it the rocket-engines underneath and I'd say Shadow had good taste in footware

Man I just hope this means if they ever bring back the Light Speed Shoes they start with the Dreamcast versions instead.

What are the chances that this whole thing started out as just a Generations expansion with no bells and whistles, but then corporate stepped in and told them to make it all about Shadow to promote the movie?

A Generations expansion 12 years after the game came out and not even during an anniversary year would be pretty random.

If it weren't for the movie, I'd doubt the game would exist at all.

Obviously it was always meant to be side content for a remaster, just like Bowser's Fury.

I'm just willing to bet that Shadow wasn't initially the focus.

Here's an idea, rate the opening levels of each mainline/major 3D Boost game.

    Sonic Unleashed:

    Sonic Colors:

    Sonic Generations:

    Sonic Forces:

    Shadow Generations:

    ...

    Now personally speaking I'd say...

Windmill Isle Day > Green Hill = ARK > Tropical Resort >>>>> Lost Valley

Windmill Isle Day speaks for itself, very much pure quality Boost

Green Hill is a good Boost level, but I feel like it doesn't come with options. You go into the level and truthfully, you're doing the same paths over and over. It's already been fully analyzed, there isn't room for new opportunities like with Windmill Isle and how you never really end up typically taking the same options every time. There's something different.

ARK isn't like any prior Boost level to me, it isn't to say it's bad either. It actually feels like the Boost is an ABILITY rather than the MECHANIC. Boosting is a tool alongside actual platforming that isn't boring like Forces. I'd say the only part that was dulling was the opening for Radical Highway but they had a narrative reason for it...and more importantly, the rest of the level design we've seen hasn't been like that in the slightest to me, so you know...I'm willing to just see where it goes. Even then, I did like the Bridge Sections!

You don't get Boost Energy from Badniks, you get CHAOS EXP. You have to choose to destroy Badniks AND Collect Rings, you have to make choices and do what's best to use Chaos Control ESPECIALLY when you need to use it to use this game's version of the Light Speed Dash pathways. I'm excited because I admit I was worried that they would constantly give you Chaos Energy, but they didn't give you a Chaos Capsule near the Light Speed Dash area. So I am willing to believe that the Chaos Capsules were given out so much due to this being the first level rather than a pure design flaw. Not to mention the use of Doom Powers...I'm very eager to see where this all goes

Tropical Resort is the most aesthetically pleasing, just not as interesting as the ones above

    Lost Valley.

Mention: Cyberspace 1-1? Between Tropical Resort and Lost Valley

    ...

I don't know if Shadow Generations will exceed Sonic Generations, but I say that it's making me CURIOUS. I want to try things, and the Boost Formula hasn't given me that feeling aside from Unleashed. I want to SEE options, find options, and make my own options. You can see how you could skip most of those Springs near the Black Doom Transition for instance. It has me wanting to try things, I still want to see if I can boost over the second rail and Air Boost to the top of the opening area

Re: trying things. The only 3D games that opened-up possibilities for that (for me) were SA1 (the spindash mechanic), Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Frontiers (the open zone to an extent), and possibly this. Strangely, Generations’s levels all the way through the game don’t really inspire much experimentation compared with whatever I felt when playing Unleashed the first time. There hasn’t been anything as complex as Eggmanland since then.

  14. Hmmmm...

I can't properly rate Ark Act 1 since I've yet to play it and stopped watching footage of it halfway through so I'd still be surprised, but here goes

Green Hill Act 2 > Space Colony Ark Act 1(?) > Windmill Isle Act 2 > Tropical Resort Act 1 >>>>>>>>>>>> Lost Valley

I think GH Act 2 is up there with some of the best levels in the series, Ark level looks like a genuine return to form with a smoother integration of speed and platforming vs the other boost games, Windmill Isle Act 2 lowkey fits the boost to win stereotype but its still fun to watch Sonic blast through it, Tropical Resort is a solid intro but nothing really stands out, and Lost Valley is Lost Valley.

I'm not sure about the others, but 1st would be Windmill Isle and last would be Green Hill Zone.

Green Hill > Windmill Isle > Tropical Resort >>> Lost Valley

I'll withhold judgement on the ARK until I play it.

Windmill Isle > GHZ > Tropical Resort >>>> Lost Valley

The ARK looks really fun but I haven't played the game yet so I can't really rank it. But if I were to hazard a guess it'd be right in between WI and GHZ

SEGA just delisted Sonic Generations from the Xbox One and Series store. Other backwards compatible games are still purchasable from the modern Xbox store, so this doesn't seem to be related to the Xbox 360 Marketplace shut down. It'd be smart to buy the PS3 and Steam versions of OG Generations now while you still can, if you want them of course.

... Is Sega trying to use the shutdown of the marketplace as a coverup for this?
Like if you can't delist 'em all take advantage of one of the storefronts going down to at least force the remaster upon 1 userbase.
Somehow that's even grosser than delisting the classics before Origins.
