I mean, if we're not talking about character exclusive bosses, they can fight the earth dragon.

  2. That's a mini-boss; not even thr character fights, but they can't fight King Arthur either.

I doubt we’d see anything from Black Knight, given the storybook games haven’t had any substantial representation in subsequent games outside the dreck on mobile.

Depends on what new abilities does Shadow posses, i think they can already can do different things with what we already know "Chaos Spear, Time Stop"

I wonder if these Doom powers are context sensitive a la Banjo-Kazooie rather than permanently accessible upgrades like Metroid. I think all the buttons are already spoken for in Shadow Generations, unless they want to use the right stick as a weapon wheel.

I would guess they're going to work like Wisps in Colors or the Chaos Emerald powers in Superstars. You can technically play the game without them, but they're more or less required if you want to access alternate routes or find collectibles.

Context-sensitive powerups are perfectly cromulent in a 3D Sonic Game. My only hang-up with Wisps has always been the questionable lore of them still being around; substituting in Chaos Control or Doom Powers is awesome.

  8. This sounds about right given the use of Chaos Control is essentially context-sensitive, to the point they give you a full bar to use it when "have" to.

So Id imagine the other "Doom Powers" are similar, so the Black Wings are probably just used for flight sections and nothing else.

I'm not really fond of those types of power-ups as they are extremely binary and don't really offer anything else beside their specified use, but they're ultimately harmless I guess.

The Egg Dragoon fight is based on the one seen in Unleashed's intro, not the one you play through as the Werehog after Eggmanland

All this talk of animal forms and Wisps reminds me of the last time a Black Arms lifeform was granted wings as a power-up.

It's nice to see them exploring other playable characters with varied movesets again. Hopefully Shadow's powers feel less like the Wisps and more like his abilities from his own game or 06.

We previously got confirmation of some of the musicians involved didn't we? I'm sure I read that Hidekuni Horita and at least one other were involved somewhere.

I think that this is the first time that Ohtani hasn't been in major 3D Sonic game since he joined during SA2's development. He's been the sound director for most Sonic Team developed games in the series since '06, only stepping away from the lead position for Colours and Generations IIRC. And even so, he was he was heavily involved as a composer in both of those games.

Ohtani is great. He's incredibly versatile and has only produced absolute bangers of soundtracks, even at his worst. The fact that he's not involved here is so surprising. He's probably hard at work on the eventual Frontiers 2.

Personally, I was really hoping that Kanon Oguni and Kenji Mizuno would be involved in Shadow Generations. I think they'd do a great job of capturing Shadow's energy.

I'm almost sure Hidekuni Horita is actually involved with Sonic Rumble OST.

I've seen some people beliving Hidenori Shoji (that one Yakuza / Like a Dragon composer) is involved with the OST because of the Drum 'n' Bass beat. Keep in mind Hidenori Shoji was also in Sonic Superstars.

I think it's due the fact Sonic X Shadow Generations was in development at same time Sonic Frontiers was also being made. Anda Ohtani had to do new music for the DLCs, too.

Also like I mentioned, 99% sure the Supporting Me remix is a Jun Senoue perfomance.

Ah yes, I think you're right and I'm mixing up Rumble and Shadow Generations news.

Shoji would be cool based on that one track from Superstars. Otherwise though I'm entirely unfamiliar with him.

Shun Nakamura posted this image on twitter. I know it's been said a million times now but man the JP cover art looks so good. The international one just looks so messy and garish idk what the hell they were thinking lol.

They needed to fit Classic on the box because Classic is a title seller in the west, so they had to balance the box around 3 Hedgehogs instead of just 2, and 1 of the hedgehogs is wildly shorter than the other two... it's kind of a tricky balancing act.

I think the JP box is way prettier than the International one, but I think the International one makes sense when you realize it NEEDS to contain Classic Sonic for marketing purposes.

EDIT: Also, looking at that picture you posted, I need to say, I kinda love the Sonic 06 box art. It's such a horrible game, but the box art is so simple and confident.

I'd be a hypocrit for saying the following, because I always complain how Capcom dropped Sheva from all future Resident Evil 5 releases in marketing and box art materials in favor of Jill.

    IMG_20240613_104817.png
But I'll say it anyways. Much like Jill, Shadow is more than enough to push the game's marketing over Classic. Push the pudgy guy out. Put him on a sticker.

I strongly prefer the Japanese cover. Honestly it's beautiful. It's enough to make me want the Japanese version for that alone.
