A new vocal track would be awesome. Shadow's kind of been stuck with I Am All of Me, which don't get me wrong is a great song, but is so tied to the morality system of StH05 that it doesn't actually make sense in the current day. There's All Hail Shadow too, I suppose, but that hasn't been used in full since Black Knight, with only like a small jingle in Forces.

I took an interest in the occurrence of spirituality over a decade ago and it actually fits impressively with the (iirc) Buddhist idea of “I AM” being a root spiritual force encompassing all being, light and dark. Rather amusingly fitting for the “ultimate life form”.

That's definitely a cool connection, but almost certainly not their intention and was just a song to market the fact that you can shoot the good guys OR the bad guys buyourgameplease.

Thought I had regarding the delisting problem going around.

Couldn't Sega just hide the original Generations from the Steam search? I know Bethesda did that for the original Skyrim when they put up the special edition so if you REALLY want to buy the original version, you can but you have to try a bit harder to find it. Sounds like a good compromise for me. That way, the option to buy the original version is still there while not competing against the new version publicly. For corporate and greed reasons, Sega could make some extra cash if people double dip too.

Speaking of time travel, I wonder how the whole ARK situation would play out. It would be interesting to see Shadow confront his past, although the game doesn't seem to have much emphasis on story.

Apparently the story takes place during the events of Generations:

Hope this sells like hotcakes so we can get Unleashed & Knuckles next.

A suggestion I saw on Twitter was to delist the original version from Steam, but provide a download code for it when you buy the new version. That way, all sales are directed to your shiny new collection, but those who buy it still have access to the decade-old game for the sake of mods/preservation/etc.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition does something similar to this.

The question is if they are even gonna do Unleahsed? It seems their plan is to do remasters of Colours onwards, so next in the chain would be Lost World. Which is a fair assumption since it's stuck to Wii U and PC, and the PC port I'd argue is worse than that of Generations. If anything it deserved a remaster way more than Gens. And given Sega is still trying to force Zavoc to be a thing I don't think they care much for the western perception of Lost World if the argument of popularity of these games comes into question.

I kinda doubt they'd remake Lost World... that game wasn't a huge success for them, I don't think.

Colors and Generations are generally considered to be quality and well-liked Sonic games.

I know opinions on Colors are a bit more fractured now, but at the time of release it was quite popular.

I do find the fact that Unleashed never got a re-release strange, but as much as people love the story, visuals, characterization, and daytime gameplay these days... the Warehog gameplay is still kind of a stain on that game's reputation.

Having a Knuckles campaign where he goes through the day AND night levels would be a good fix for those that simply can't deal with the existence of the werehog.
Meanwhile, either add in the ability to turn off the night time battle music or add contextual stage-specific battle themes that fade in-and-out in sync with the actual stage music, and lower the medal requirements, and bam; the "bad" game is now good.

I hope they rerelease it at some point. Generations makes more sense to do first because most people like it (safe money) and adding the Shadow campaign is an "easy" way to appease Paramount/SEGA/whoever wanting a tie-in game for the movie. If it sells a lot hopefully they can offer up Unleashed and advertise it as a second helping of sorts.

Oh, yeah. Unleashed could greatly benefit from some tweaks in a remake, and I'd buy it day one.

I'm just guessing SEGA thinks it's reputation would prevent a remake from being profitable.

The chorus plays if Shadow gets a powerup in Gens, but that's so rare if you play anything above horrible I guess it doesn't count. Although honestly, the song is tied to the "pure hero" route in ShTH as well. Lyrics like "found the meaning that you've searched for so long" don't really hold up in the modern day either.

Get One OK Rock to do a Shadow theme. Go full emo. Embrace it.

As a Boost Enjoyer, I'm happy! I do wonder exactly what engine this will be in and what tweaks it will have, as no two games in this style have played identically and arguably Generations was best, or second best, depending on who you talk to. Colours and Forces tend to feel a bit 'snappy' in a bad way with things a bit more restricted, in minor ways that are hard to explain.

Their collaboration in Frontiers seemed extremely last minute, I'm more inclined towards Kellin Quinn. Especially since Sleeping With Sirens is way more emo, at least imo.

  16. I think it's a combo of that and that SEGA probably thinks bringing it back into public limelight would hurt some of the goodwill the brand has been getting the past few years. The Werehog is still one of the often brought up criticisms of 3D Sonic alongside everything about 06 and Shadow with a gun, so it makes sense they might wanna avoid that

You... saw the trailer to Sonic x Shadow Generations... right? The one with Westopolis and Black Doom, elements from that exact game with guns.

Unleashed would definitely need to be heavily altered to be anything but a critical nightmare. The Werehog sections are such an unfortunately necessary, festering blight on that game that outside of removing half of the game's content outright, I'm unsure how they could possibly fix it. Much as I'd get the Big PP from Knuckles getting what Coldsteel is getting right now, I don't really know what redboy could do to fix the 65% of Unleashed that's nigh unplayable.

Making the Werehog levels optional is an idea, but then, once again, you're cutting out a colossal amount of content. Werehog gameplay is slow and plodding by design, so to rework it would be a massive undertaking that I'm not really confident in anyone available would be able to handle.

The Werehog really is just a colossal, pulsating tumor on an otherwise pretty damn decent game, and unfortunately, it seems inoperable.

  19. Yes? I didn't say Shadow the Hedgehog the Game, I just said Shadow with a gun, the only part that anyone other than hardcore Sonic fans actually remember about Shadow 05. The series has been pretty careful to regularly reference past stuff but dodging the controversial elements from said games.

Remove the slow motion effect from the rising upper cut move.
