My guess is that they wanted to do an inversion of SA2 with Space Colony Ark being the first level and Radical Highway being the last. Probably would've been more impactful if you didn't routinely revisit Radical Highway throughout the game but it made for some fun setpieces ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Looks like the OST was the result of Jun Senoue reaching out to external collaboraters everywhere in order to put something together.

This OST release made me realize the OG Generations OST on Spotify is missing the White Space themes lol

Not all included in the official OST but they are:

    Radical Highway Act 1
    Radical Highway Act 2
Radical Highway Gate in the White Space
    Space Colony ARK Distortion version
    Rail Canyon Distortion Version
    Sunsets Heights Distortion version

Thus 6, plus the new remix we got with the album release today, so 7 in total

It made it more impactful for me, the whole game they are teasing Radical Highway, so yo finally get a normal one in Act 1, then a fully distorted version in act 2 that really looks like a final level, really loved it

RBU is new to the series (and unheard of in general from the looks of it) but the others have all worked with Senoue before on TSR, SoGens and other titles. He almost always works with a range of external collaborators for a good soundtracks. Sonic 4 was a real exception.

They're all a single track on the OST, simply called "Doom Zone". Guess they're just one track that was broken up as necessary for the game.

Disappointed original Generations songs is not include, because there's songs lacking in the old album on Spotify.

I doubt Sonic fans even know these songs are in the game:

Would have been great to them be included this time.

It's not just Generations, a lot of the streaming releases of Sega's Sonic albums are missing massive chunks of music. To name a few, the Heroes, Shadow, Rush Adventure, and Generations releases all have noteworthy gaps, not to mention Sonic CD missing almost the entire North American soundtrack. I really hope Sega gets around to fixing that someday. I kind of wish the Shadow Generations album included the missing tracks, but it is what it is I guess.

Glanced at the name and skipped it, thinking it was the doom zone in white space theme, clearly my fault, the album in general had some differences, like biolizard theme start very differently

Sunset Heights Act 1 intro is a bit more complete

Yeah, to be fair the White Space tracks are all under 1 track titled "White Space Medley" in the original soundtrack, so if you're familiar with that it's easy to miss.

So, this might be an extremely deep cut, but listening to the album version of Supporting Me the guitar solo sounds like it could have come straight out of Project Chaos or any other of the metal-minded Sonic remixes from OCRemix of that era. Snappleman would be proud.

Yes, I'm aware of the guest collab on that song. My opinion stays the same.

It's in my ripped copy of the 2012 OST; track 15 on disc 3. The wiki page does say it was cut down on digital stores though so that checks out.

Yeah, I never got why the Blue Blur album wasn't never on Spotify.

Every OST released misses songs. I buy lots of the Vinyl releases from Data Discs and every single one is an exercise in disappointment at which songs are missing. The Sonic Mania one, for example, is missing any of the Sonic 1, 2, 3, or Knuckles music, and the Sonic CD one is missing all USA songs and You Can Do Anything and Cosmic Eternity.

This extends to non-sonic Sega OSTs, too. The Panzer Dragoon Saga one is missing a ton of songs from the game.

It's not a slight against it. Seems like the same approach as Team Sonic Racing actually now that you mention it.

Yeah, that's Senoue's style. He seems to be very aware of artists in the industry and reaches out to collaborate quite often. This approach goes back as far as SA1. And I think Ohtani or Tokoi (or both?) has spoken about him being responsible for suggesting and talking to outside artists for soundtracks that they've produced when Senoue was otherwise not involved.

He knows how to direct a fantastic soundtrack. But he fumbles when he's on his own.

He collaborated with vocalists since forever, but commisioning remix artists is a bit of new practice, seemingly used when in house Sega composers seem occupied.

interesting, because the CD release has it lol, disc 3 track 15 is the "White Space Medley" that I assume contains all of them

so interesting thing about this. the Data Disc one is missing those songs, however the Sonic Mania Plus release has all the Sonic 3 & CD ones, even including the Angel Island theme that you hear for like thirty seconds. It still doesn't have the Sonic 1 & 2 tracks, probably because then they'd have to pay Big Moneys to Masato Nakamura.

The Sonic CD 20th anniversary CD release contains You Can Do Anything and Cosmic Eternity, but does not have the US OST. probably because it didn't actually release with the original version of the game. :) it's not a rights issue because Sonic Boom, a Crush 40 cover of Sonic Boom, and a remix of Stardust Speedway US are all on it as well.

Of Sonic games, the OSTs that I've found incomplete or fragmented with physical releases are Sonic Mania, and Sonic CD (due to not re-releasing the US OST). Sonic 3's original OST as far as I know has never been put on disc. Not counting the 20th anniversary releases of SA1 and SA2, since they're basically intended as "greatest hits". The only true omissions for the 3D games I can think of is how my recent research turned up that the Act Clear theme is just missing from SA1 and SA2 for some reason.

I just knew TORIENA did Radical Highway Act 2. The bass sounded WAY too similar to Cyber Station.
