Sonic X Shadow Generations thread, movie level out now

Isn’t there a de-acceleration setting? How does it feel?

 

It's not very useful.

But if you need Shadow to slow down even slower to the point of feeling slippery, you can use it.

 

Wouldn't it let you preserve momentum when jumping, for example?

 

It doesn’t affect jumping but considering you can spam spear to prevent midair deacceleration anyway they really should just bring over the jump deacceleration setting from Frontiers.

 

I like using the spear gliding because it’s nice to have some ‘advanced tech,’ but it’d be better if the tech was something besides an exploit to get around an issue that shouldn’t exist.

Some level of air drag should exist in Sonic, but Shadow Gens and base Frontiers is a bit too high. However, some fan games make it way too easy to just go flying. Maybe an intended air action that removes some degree of control in exchange for preserving speed can be implemented, a la rolling on the ground? That’s sort of what spear gliding is already I guess, though I just think it looks stupid to do haha. It may be cool to have an more aerodynamic pose that Sonic/Shadow/whoever can enter into that severely restricts horizontal movement and uncurls you so you’re set on a path and vulnerable if you aim poorly.

 

Last night I also finally managed to S rank Radical Highway Act 2 without Doom Wings. It took me a while before I got the S rank. Last week I managed to get a C rank and last night I moved up to B rank and later A rank. When I got the A rank I figured it should be possible to get the S rank soon. That took me another hour, but fortunately I got it!
I'm now ready for the movie DLC that will be available tomorrow.

 

Unleashed and SoGens kinda had that, in the form of the short hop, although that also made it a bit of a pain if you jump just before touching an enemy as you'll get hit.

 

Put in more ceilings and don't put ramps and boosters everywhere if you want the player to stay grounded. Incentivize rolling perhaps. Limiting horizontal controls doesn't solve the "problem" of flying off a ramp anyway and is just air drag of its own. I like the idea of uncurling to loosen air drag but I think just being vulnerable is balanced enough.

 

I’m a dumb dumb who never remembers this… but what time do updates/DLCs usually drop?

Very excited to play this stage, but I’m guessing it won’t be until it’s pretty late here.

 

Anywhere between 9 AM (+2 hours) and 8 PM (+13 hours) is what I would guess. If there isn't anything by then, it's getting dropped during/after an announcement at The Game Awards (which starts at the 13 hour part)

Doesn't seem to be. You'd be seeing more people talk about it if it was.

 

The update just got pushed live on Steam, although the content itself doesn't seem to be on the store yet. I'm sure it'll pop up any minute.

Launched on PlayStation. There doesn't seem to be an equivalent update to the PC one, but I'm also busy watching the game awards.

 

100%'d it. The visuals are nice.

 

...they definitely wanted to flex their animation chops again.

Though I don't like how the lighting makes this model look, the animation was pretty nice. The level design is definitely Sonic 2006 inspired.
