Not really, he'll only grab onto walls that are already climbable. Lost World was the last game to have any kind of edge-grab, and even that was pretty subject to whatever the parkour physics were doing, so you may amend that to Shadow's own game.

Honestly I’m surprised nobody’s made the comparison to Super Sonic yet, because that’s functionally what Doom Wing is, since it’s invincible to almost everything and drains rings. I think it’s a much better realisation of the Generations implementation too in that you can fly, but it’s not an autopilot that drains the form ridiculously fast. You still have to engage with the level and it’s balanced by requiring boost, but refills boost on the ground. It could stand to be a bit faster, but otherwise I’m really happy how it solves design conundrums surrounding Super Sonic by being an instant-win button.

As I played with Doom Morph I couldn't help but think the "going under the purple mud" bit would be good reinterpreted as Knuckles digging, while the grapple move could easily be repurposed into Tangle's tail. Glad I wasn't the only one who also thought of Gamma/mech stages when using the Chaos Spear.

Yeah, there's a lot at play here that could be turned around and used in an SA3. I just hope we get a proper Spin Dash again, if they do that.

The Drop Dash in the Modern Sonic Gens portion actually feels quite a bit like a spin dash, but it's mapped so poorly to the controller that I almost never used it. But seeing Sonic rolling around in a ball in a 3D boost game outside of drifting is quite cool.

I'm sorry for taking the time to (attempt to) clear up miscommunication, and to then as a separate matter explain why I'm excited that some old Boost game level designers are back on Boost games (this is part of me celebrating Shadow Generations by the way!). You don't have to read or partake in a conversation that doesn't interest you. You don't see me telling people to stop every time they spend pages debating Amy's characterization, or Pontac and Graff's writing. "Don't you guys know that Sonic Team won't change things based off of these posts???" Yes, everybody knows that, thank you.

Brother, I implore you, read what was written. If my use of the word "talent" made you think I was calling them uniquely talented in contrast to others, that wasn't my intention, and I apologize. I was using that generically to refer to professionals in general. "What sort of talent do we have working on this one?" They're all "the talent". I also called them "blood".

All I am saying is that this statement:
    Was undermined by this statement:
More people =/= the exact same.

That's it, man. It was a very very very minor point. This shouldn't be difficult to grasp. I cannot make this any more clear to you.

Regarding budget discussions, I think just looking at or speculating about the total amount of money spent on Shadow Gens or Frontiers isn't helpful.

It's closer to Money Spent divided by Hours of Playable Content in the finished product...

But that is a bit flawed because there was a TON of engine development done to Hedgehog Engine 2 for Frontiers, which Shadow Gens just gets to copy-paste and make a few tweaks to.

    So it's really more like:
    Code (Text):
    1. Cost Difference = ((Frontiers Budget - HE2 Dev Costs) / Frontiers Playtime) - ((Shadow X Shadow Gens Budget - Sonic Gens Remaster Costs) / Shadow Gens Playtime)

But since we don't know the costs of either of these games AFAIK, the discussion is kind of moot at this point...

Yeah I agree, I'd use it more often if it were set to a different button. L Trigger isn't doing anything in the air, why not on there?

BTW it's crazy to me that the Drop Dash in Frontiers is the closest we got to a proper roll in 3D since Adventure 2.. but then when they were tasked to make a Spin Dash as DLC for the game, they made it work like a reskinned boost. I've been baffled by that for a solid while. It was right there.. you already had the rolling code in the game..

The execution of the Drop Dash in Gens at least makes me hopeful they won't screw that up again next time they try the Spin Dash. IF they do, that is.

Or on "A" since it's currently just doubling the X button in-air.

It'd also make it so Modern and Classic access Drop Dash the same way, which would be pretty neat parity between the two.

This will be a PC mod before the end of November.

It turns out this game is way more challenging if your controller is broken.

This game is so fucking amazing that people just break down crying about how good it plays.

    Year of Shadow, every year!

I like how Dunkey's video on the game is him mostly in silence being like "damn this is kinda cool..."

  13. Had to take a break from Shadow Gens cuz that's way too many mandatory challenges. Decided to play Sonic Gens and while overall its a great remaster so far, I did run into some issues. The homing attack reticle is weirdly delayed, it doesn't pop up until Sonic is damn near touching whatever he's targeting, thankfully I've played this game 1000 times so I don't actually need it, still weird though. Another thing was in Modern Sky Sanctuary, I dunno if this happened in the original but near the end of the level at the part where the ground is falling, the camera just starts shitting itself and randomly turns around while I'm trying to jump into the Warp Point on the lower path, and then on that tower run the camera is facing way lower than it should. So yeah, I guess this might be a typical Sonic port huh

I was thinking having to do all the missions was a bit much at first but I think they really are all quality, whereas a lot of Sonic Generations’ are hit or miss gimmicks.

I heard that if you get all the ship parts for Orbot and Cubot you unlock a bonus cutscene revealing that Zavok was the mastermind behind Black Doom, foreshadowing the events of Sonic X Silver Lost World

Anyone know who to contact if a code doesn't work? The Sonic Adventure skin doesn't work for some reason. Should I e-mail Sega or Sony? Not sure who to go to.

It's pretty cool watching Sonic go back on the upswing. I became a Sega fan before Sonic was a thing, I got the Master System in Texas over the NES. I was the only person I knew with one, all my neighbors and cousins had Mario. The only other person who was a fan of the Master System was my dad, who was a big nerd. So we'd geek out together over the SMS stuff like the 3D glasses. So when Sonic 1 came along and then all of the sudden Sega was the hottest shit in gaming, it felt like I had been there before everyone else. Sticking by the Sonic games ever since and watching them go from being top in class in the entire game industry to an also ran to now back to being a huge franchise worth reckoning with has been a really cool journey. This really is a new golden age for Sonic. we're back to having Sega Genesis-quality 2D sonic games regularly, the 3D games are finally getting 9s again, and the movie series is perhaps the new crown jewel in the franchise. And like before, when Sonic came onto the scene and was really good, the rest of Sega seems to be following. I've been waiting since Sega exited the console business for them to be a powerhouse entity in the gaming industry again. There is no reason they should lag behind Square or Capcom or Namco or Konami. Sega is older than all of them, Sega predates Video Games. For the first time since the days of the Dreamcast, Sega has multiple critical and sales darlings out at the same time. If they're smart they can ride this momentum hard.

Even as someone who doesn't mind Zavok, I gotta say whoever said that is completely full of it.
