Smith started voicing Omega in the Tails Tube shorts last year. He's credited there and has confirmed it on Twitter. And yeah, he sounds great. Omega has had a ton of VAs, changing it up at least every other appearance. But the thing is, his voice is almost entirely the result of post-processing. He was voiced by Maddie Blaustein in both '06 and the first Winter Olympics game. In the latter, he sounds nothing like his derided '06 self.

Bickuribox12 claims in his latest upload that Mike Pollock is voicing Metal Overlord, the only source for which I can find is this tweet. Is anyone else aware of actual confirmation? I'm a little disappointed if this is the case, which I know might strike some as meaningless given how heavily filtered the voice is, but I just really like the link of Sonic and Neo Metal having the same VA.

Wow, that is the most Mike Pollock sounding voice ever when the filters are somewhat removed. But yeah, very strange decision to not cast Roger for that.

Those voice clips at the start are reused from either Shadow or Heroes (or some third thing I'm not aware of). If you listen clearly, you can hear a different version once the race starts, which is still a more filtered Blaustein but still noticeably different in any case. In fact, it sounds exactly like Blaustein's voice in Project 06, since ChaosX just put the filter over her existing recordings for that game.

So yes, this taught me a little bit that you can notice a clear difference. Ironically, both Smith in the Youtube videos and Icky Vic in Forces sound closer to Blaustein, while John St. John and Jeff Kramer sound nearly identical between Heroes and Shadow.

I never even realized Omega changed voice actors between Heroes and Shadow. I wouldn't be surprised if they still had the filters lying around at that point and were able to reuse them. Not to knock Jeff, of course - he did a good job matching St. John's delivery. In fact, the more I listen and compare the line-up, the more I notice the delivery differences - I think Vic's "Rouge, come in!" in Forces actually comes pretty darn close, but the pitch, intensity, and tempo of his other lines feel varying degrees of "off" (granted, they were part of Infinite's mind-games), and Aaron's performance in Team Sonic Racing sounds way too excited. Not that voices aren't allowed to change, of course, but something about filtered robot-style voices really invites that kneejerk reaction of "why can't they just computer it into sounding the same". :V

To reiterate the other two thirds of that initial point, though: Seriously, props to Kirk and Strassman. After having just about written them off before, I'm glad to be wrong and see them getting material and direction that work this well.

Still banking on this meaning they're the cyber space/challenge acts equivalent for this game, given the amount of disparates snippets of different variants that we've seen, not to mention the general aesthetic of the stage.

The filename list for the Terios DLC leaked from xbox's servers.

Most of this stuff is fairly uninteresting, but we do have confirmation that there are 4 bosses, or at least 4 bosses with cutscenes in the middle of them.
Take it with a grain of salt as with all leaks.

Yeah idk about this one. With the past few Sonic games made in Hedgehog Engine 2, the DLC is stored in the DLC folder, but then each actual DLC is in it's own folder. For exmaple, Sonic Origins' DLC folder:
    upload_2024-10-7_11-23-44.png
    And Sonic Frontiers' DLC folder:
    upload_2024-10-7_11-24-15.png
The screenshot there has the Terios files and Digital Deluxe files just strewn about in the DLC's root folder.
I'm not saying it's entirely impossible though, I'm an idiot and I have my sig for a reason, but this is the pattern that I personally see. We'll just have to wait and see.

I mean it's either on the Xbox server or it isn't. Is there a source on any of this?

Either way it would be a shame if the four bosses we've seen advertised were all we got (besides the final one, but that will probably use Super Shadow and therefore be incompatible with the DLC). Weird to imagine SA2, Heroes, Shadow and 06 having boss representation only for Forces and Frontiers to be left awkwardly dangling off the end with no fights to represent them.

With the game releasing soon? Yeah i think we have seen basically all the levels and bosses, they love to spoil all that in marketing, expecting the launch trailer to have the final boss at this point, which i am pretty sure we have seen a glimpse of it already in that key art with time eater

  12. Sonic 1, 3, Heroes and Colors didn't have boss fights in the original game, so I don't see it as terribly strange.

Well Sonic Gens operated on a different structure to it's bosses in which you fight a boss after 3 stages, and a rival somewhere within the challenges area.
Shadow Gens is more typical of a Sonic game having you fight a boss at the end of a given Zone, since it has less total Zones to do stretches without fights.

I never really viewed Generations bosses as being tied to the games it represented though, since it's not like CD had a stage to play. Shadow Generations at least looked like it was tying a boss to each stage. We've still got footage of at least a Sonic vs. Shadow cutscene, so people were definitely expecting Sonic himself to be a fight, and if he's shouldering Chaos Island, then the only stage without a boss is the one where everyone would expect Infinite to be.

I really hope they toughen up the Sonic fight given how much of a joke Shadow was in the original game, especially if he's going to be that late into the game...

I don't know why the skepticism of the filesystem list, but I can tell you they were sourced from the Xbox store. They're legit, and now both games' filesystems as a whole have been made public. We can only see filenames but in case anyone's worried about spoilers to that degree I'd recommend being wary of those.

The game is exactly 2 weeks awaits for early access and 15 days away for regular access delayed access. We'll know soon enough what's real and what's not.

The full file list leaked. I can say without a doubt it's real, I attached the txt file to this post.

Summary of findings for the lazy:
    • 22 main acts in total, including the 4 boss acts
    • The stage themes and bosses they've shown so far are all the game has
    • Generations and shadow are 2 separate EXEs, SonicBlueBlur.exe and miller.exe respectively
    • I counted 20 challenge acts total
    • Big the cat is in the game
