Sonic X Shadow Generations thread, movie level out now

I don't think Sonic Team heavily exaggerates with Frontiers myself, even if Gen remaster has 60% more new content that should be bigger 3D World's Broswer's Fury for the Mario 3D World remaster and where Nintendo charged even more it too

 

I'm fairly certain the game will have a Frontiers style collect-a-ton to unlock new zones and bosses. The Shadow 05 logo collectable that players got at the end of the ARK stage look straight out of Frontiers' token system.

 

When BOTW was the latest Zelda game, I don't recall anyone expecting the next installment to reuse its overworld. Especially considering that no mainline Zelda game did it. The closest was ALBW, which mimicked the ALTTP overworld layout, but even in that case, the whole thing was remade from scratch with all-new assets.

And yes, BOTW's world was massive. But I don't think it's that unreasonable to expect the follow up to the best selling Zelda game ever to have a similarly massive overworld that isn't recycled, especially considering TOTK was in development for over half a decade.

TBF I think not knowing or understanding the characters was one of the requirements in the job description for working on a Sonic game during the Pontac/Graff era

 

It still gives me whiplash everytime you say Rise of Lyric one of your favorite Sonic games.

 

Meanwhile in Japan, Sonic's dancing with a bunch of cheerleaders to City Escape Act 2 at a baseball game to promo the game

I guess now we have a reason why Shadow was at Sonic's birthday at the end of Generations, albeit begrudgingly.

…which for some reason makes me think about how Eggman Generations would go hard as hell as a mod pack. Just all the most iconic Eggman levels.

After rewatching Episode 2 of Dark Beginnings there is something I'm trying to figure out. If Abe already heard Shadow telling Maria about his connection to the Black Arms, why was he so surprised when he saw Black Doom with Gerald in his flashback in Shadow the Hedgehog?

 

I think that the game flashback takes place before what we saw in Dark Beginnings.

In the game Shadow is still in his tube which I always saw as him being "finalized" or at least still being worked on by Gerald and Doom.

Would explain why he's calling Shadow a freak and to stay away from him because he knows the truth.

 

Watching the new part was almost surreal. We've got genuine storytelling and decent-to-impressive presentation in official game-universe material, and all 3 members of Team Dark sound better than I've heard them in over a decade despite two of the three voice actors remaining unchanged. (Judging from the credits, I wonder who's filling in for Omega: Kirk or Roger.) I love it.

 

I can't find the source at present, but I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed elsewhere that Roger Craig Smith is filling in for Omega in this (and, presumably, in Shadow Generations itself). I've not heard Omega in anything post-Sonic the Hedgehog '06, but thought Smith did a good job of sounding like the character here - reminds me a lot of his original voice from Sonic Heroes.

 

His voice in Sonic 06 was questionable to say the least. And his voice in Colors DS or Team Sonic Racing wasn't much better, so this is the best he's sounded in awhile.

 

Next to Forces...

 

I'm gonna be honest, Omega's filter is so heavy outside of 06 that I can barely tell the difference between his voices. He sounds fine in most cases.

 

Yea, they could synthesize his voice and I doubt most would notice.
