Generations' first level was also full of straight lines and spaces with not much to do, so no, most people wouldn't notice. The idea that the "quality difference" is so significant and noticeable to anyone that it would impede their gameplay is silly, especially when the games play fundamentally different to begin with. Generations does not have moments where you kick a bullet until it explodes

It's also not true that the Shadow levels have nothing to interact with. In that one level alone, there's like six different gimmicks and ways to engage with the level, half of these being unique to this stage and the other half being recurring gameplay elements.

Those "conspiracy theories" were objectively correct. Basic gameplay design and development knowledge is not "conspiracy theory". People were right to point out that the first level wouldn't be particularly complicated, and that will also apply to Shadow Generations.

Go back far enough and you'd see people insinuating the same about Generations, that Green Hill is linear and boring and the game wouldn't ever improve.

    Oh, and this too.

While having a discussion with Battons on the Discord, the more I realize that we don't know what the word "Terios" actually means. The closest that Battons got was Greek for "Wild Beast."

    Other claims online include:
    "reflection of"
    "making dreams come true"
But they don't seem to hold up well.

The wiki says that it means "reflection", which I guess would be a reference to Shadow being similar and a rival to Sonic. "Shadow" also implies the same.

If Bowser's Fury passed for a brand new game, it wouldn't have been packaged with the 3D World remaster to begin with. Bowser's Fury was a sizable amount of extra content for what's essentially a DLC expansion, but it's not a comparable amount of content to the main game. Shadow's campaign here will be the same. I'd be very surprised if we get more than 5 levels out of this, tops (not counting extra acts).
It may not play very well, it may be frustrating, but you can't say it doesn't have as much going on, because it absolutely does, if not more so than other stages due to the Wisp powers.

The level design on the Ark looks okay. There's just a bit too much long hallways of nothing for my taste. The Biolizard fight, however, looks much more interesting.

The visuals are great. And it's not just the levels, the animations, both the in-game and cinematic ones are very fluid and lively. This is looking like a big step up from Frontiers visually.

The music has me excited, and a little confused. The Radical Highway remix is dope and so is the remix of Supporting Me, especially the later parts of it. But the music for the Ark level is just "The Ark" from Shadow the Hedgehog. Is it a placeholder, or is that just where the music budget ran out?

This is looking like a pretty solid game to me.

It's obviously a placeholder, just like when they re-used S4 music in early Superstars footage and had that awful, obviously incomplete 2001-era MIDI for the boss theme.

    ...

    Oh...

I don't feel confident enough to actually guess at this point.

Bro what are you talking about? It is a brand new game. It's a just a small side game as an extra incentive to pick up a port of old game.

Games comes in different sizes , Bowser’s Fury doesn’t even play the same as SM3DW, nor does it have the same structure, it’s experimental new little game with open zone gameplay that is even more open than Odyssey, it’s not simply a new content for SM3DW or DLC for it, when you launch the game you literally choose it from a menu between it and SM3DW without even having to touch SM3DW at all, just like you would choose different games in collections

I can say it doesn’t have much going on, just rocket rocket rocket, not even using different wisp powers

I can't tell if that's the same voice for Doom or not. On one hand, while it has been a LOOONNNGGG time since I've last heard his voice in Shadow the Hedgehog, I do remember what he sounds like and I do hear some of it in that footage. On the other hand, something about it sounds a little too off for it to be the same person. Then again, Shadow the Hedgehog was a 2005 game, we're 19 years after that and I highly doubt he'd be able to pull off the exact same voice.

  11. The presentations in this looks insane. The difference between first Frontiers and SXS gameplay reveal is like night and day.

The level design also looks good, so do the bosses, especially Biolizard.

And holy fuck, the music is FIRE, for sure. I'm pretty happy with this, so far.

If it's not big or original enough to be sold on its own (which it's not) and it needs to be tacked onto the main game as an extra in order to sell it, then it's not a new game, period. Professor Layton's London Life is not a new game. Final Fantasy IV: Interlude is not a new game. Even Nintendo's own marketing only refers to Bowser's Fury as an addition to the same game. A new mode.

And besides, your argument hinges on the literal definition of a new game. The point is that it's the same product, and the new content offers a direct comparison to the old content in the same product, and the comparison isn't flattering.

A floor demo of the Space Colony ARK Act 1 level.

It shows the UI, and the Chaos Control is tied to a separate gauge you fill by defeating enemies. You can do Chaos Control at any time when you have that meter filled, but when the game wants you to use it for the level, it'll give you a capsule.

This is definitely the first level since there's basic hint bubbles, and for a tutorial level, it is VERY good. I loved the part you're skydiving into bullets, and if you time the Chaos Control right, you can run on the bullets.

I can't tell the controls, since the player is genuinely not good at the game, but it plays well, more smooth than Cyber Space.

    I know. :V

...Then again, a remix of "The Ark" would actually be pretty nice.

So am I missing it or are they going without the drifting controls for this as well?

You're making things up to fit YOUR definition. New adventure, new gameplay, new developer. It's all new.

I'm not responding to you anymore. This is a stupid conversation.

  19. Level design seems a bit barren with sparse placements of interact-able elements compared to other games, but it could be how the person is playing. Like it takes too long to go from one thing to another without boosting.

I was a bit concerned watching it the first time, but watching it again, I see some interesting alternate path options. Seems like they're incorporating some of the newer design sensibilities that went into the Final Horizon Cyberspace stages which I loved, so I'm going to be optimistic.

This actually looks promising and, dare I say, fun.
My biggest problem with Forces was its irredeemably horrendous leveldesign. And the problem with Frontiers cyberspace was how incredibly janky and unpolished the movement felt.
This however seems to not have those problems.
