To clarify my position if it wasn't clear enough, I don't really want the movie character stylings to become the mainline in the games, but I find them preferable to the watered down soulless monstrosities the games have been propping up for the last decade+ for whatever godforsaken reason. Says more about how much I hate the character designs in the games now than how much I enjoy the stylings of the movie. Would really prefer a new redesign/tightening up over anything else at this point.

    A bad job.

Look at the X Shadow content. The animation quality is ridiculously good. This is the best the Shadow model had ever looked. This is the best any of these games ever looked in ages. The Mephiles shot is juicy as fuck. It's not just the cutscenes either, all the gameplay animations have been stepped up tremendously.

Sonic Team must have hired some talented animators during their recent hiring spree.

I'm just excited to play stages that actually take place on the ground and not in some level editory skybox dimension. Can't blame them for doing a movie tie-in since the movie is definitely why Shadow Gens exists or at least is why it looks as polished as a 2024 Sonic game should be.

This. I'd be somewhat annoyed if it were actually a part of the game, but as a separate DLC I don't really mind it. It can be safely ignored if you don't like it.

Can we talk about how amazing Omega looks at 0:38?

If the powered-up boost from Frontiers is anything to go by, I think that we're only gonna see more movie elements in the games from now on.

Much like how elements from Sonic X made their way into the games in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Yeah, no question that Shadow Generations is more appealing to look at in general, movie models or not. I'm glad they're pulling up but still ache for new blood

ehhh I do think though that if someone were to play Frontiers 20 years from now entirely divorced from the movie context, they wouldn't even pick up that it's a "movie" thing. Likewise, (I mean, probably because I didn't play them) I can't think of really any Sonic X stuff that made it into the games - the original things like Cosmos and the space stuff and Tails getting to blow up his girlfriend with a Super Sonic-powered cannon didn't make it in at all.

The movie DLC looks really cool, but MAN that Shadow model is hideous. I feel like it really would've benefited from Werehog-esque fur shading.

The Sonic Twitter just dropped full 3D renders of Maria and Gerald.

I like how they're posed in a way that it looks like Gerald is examining Maria in a confused way.

"How come this bitch got hair and I didn't? She's the one with the disease."

Maria looks adorable. And Gerald doesn't like Eggman but grey mustache.

If you squint you can make out a pair of eyes behind his glasses. Lol

The Sonic 3 Movie Pack looks pretty cool. Ngl, I like how he sounds. Do we finally know who that ominous second playable character is?

Wow, this is the first time Maria's actually looked like a child. She's come a long way from SA2...

That's a good middle ground between the Unleashed humans and the Adventure/X era anime style. Honestly better than both!

Personally I think the character artists are on fire with this game. For real the best animation work since Unleashed, and even then exceeding past all but the Marza-animated cutscenes. Huge step up from Frontiers; it makes it clear how little money/staff they had to spare on that game lol. The seamlessness between gameplay to cutscene and back is especially impressive. It's like we're finally getting on that "AAA" shit again!

Here's hoping the gameplay/level design holds as well. If not, well we have OG Generations to go with it.

Loving that render of Maria and Gerald - this is easily Maria's best look in any actual Sonic game, looks very similar to her Sonic X design but translated into 3D. It's nice to see Gerald looking slimmer like his original appearance in Sonic Adventure 2, I was always a bit surprised how rotund they made him in Shadow the Hedgehog. Going back to his original build but keeping the more Eggman-like glasses and moustache is a good middle ground between the two looks.

  17. Game looks way bigger and better than I was expecting, this is far more than a simple remaster. I can't wait

I'm curious how the reviews are going to be treating this package.

Fantastically, I bet. Every mainstream preview I've seen has been glowing, and we've seen quite a bit of content.

    I can already see it...
Professional Reviewers: "It's a fine game if you've never played the original Sonic Generations. Veterans may find the Shadow sections refreshing, but the level design leaves much to be desired. 7.5/10."
YouTube "Reviewers": "REMEMBER THAT TIME SHADOW HAD A GUN? LOLOLOL!!1! I WAS BORN IN 2005"

I'll be more surprised if this exact scenario doesn't happen
