Sonic X Shadow Generations announced, releases Autumn 2024

    In preparation I went and maxed out the score in the Casino Night DLC.

    It is a slow and boring day.

    Side note this DLC is far more in depth than I had initially thought. Beforehand, I'd dick around for a minute or 2 before exiting and didn't even realize there was an upper board with platforming elements and a slot machine. The gimmick of lighting up the Chaos Emeralds on the board to get a 3~ minute long ring shower is very fun. And I find it interesting that it actually does matter whether you pick Classic or Modern, as Classic has the ability to stop and change his direction 3 times and Modern can boost... Objectively Classic is better here.

    why does the eagle look so greasy and shiny

    Other than that, looks solid. Surprising how well the Adventure skin fits in Generations, can't wait to see the Jam skin in action

    Quick question has Sonic Team tried to render skin, fur, and body texture that wasn't low resolution or smooth like the entirety of the main cast.

    Closest idea I have are Eggman's mustaches.

    This is probably going to see immensely silly, but I really appreciate how the terrain transitions into the wall-running section in the Kingdom Valley screenshot with the wooden planks rather than throwing Shadow onto the wall using a spring. Just makes the location feel much more consistent and believable.

    The Dreamcast model looks cool in game, I don't expect them to do this but I hope they recreate the classic jumpball effect. The only time we see this nowadays is in Smash Bros.

    I had the same thought in the ARK showcase. It's unobtrusive but weird when there's just normal, basic springs to transition into level segments so it's great when it's a natural transition.

    It's frighteningly rare for Sonic Team to just let you run along a wall in the first place, something it felt like 3D Sonic really pioneered when it could never be done in 2D. SA1/2 and 06 are almost the only games where it happens. It's been years since I've played OG Gens at this point, but Heroes and Shadow barely include any wall movement at all, and Unleashed/Colors/Lost World/Forces and even Frontiers in most cases totally automate it. Plus, giving Sonic a climbing/parkour system that makes him inorganically attach to walls doesn't help (which Lost World and Frontiers then choose to heavily script anyway, so what the hell is even the point). It lead me to believe for years that the modern games' literally didn't have the programming for Sonic to rotate 360 degrees around a wall and floor.

    Hopefully the wall running will actually work this time. Seriously, 06's wall running controlled like complete garbage. And climbing walls in Frontiers was barely any better. That one Koco challenge on the 1st island was so obnoxious.

    If I had to guess, "Trailer ver." only means that the song was cut and edited to sync up with the trailer footage better.

    I can't imagine that they would've done a whole new remix just for a trailer, especially since the track's title still says "Act 1".

    Which from what I've seen, was used only for trailer, since the remix was used in Black Doom chase was completely different.
