Honestly it's been so many years since I've even touched Generations that I have no idea whether the missions are any good. I woulda replayed it earlier but a bunch of new Sonic stuff came out just as I was working on Youtube stuff, and then this got announced.

They're probably fine, though. I tried in vain to 100% Unleashed a while back and the optional side content in that game felt A. completely unlike Generations and B. total fucking horseshit, in a way I definitely don't remember Generations feeling like at any point (except maybe that Vector music note mission? That pissed me off, but it was before I had a computer that could run the game above 10fps).

Eh, I also remember kinda disliking the Rouge mission. Interesting concept, but from my memory Rouge's stun radius was really iffy at points and it made for a couple of obnoxious restarts.

Stuff like the Knuckles race as Classic Sonic was great though.

Yeah, Generations's side content, for the most part, is actually fun. WAY better than the shit you're asked to do in other games, especially Unleashed, oh god. I especially like that some of the challenge acts depict the level in other settings, like nighttime for Ocean Palace or sunset for Planet Wisp.

It was the Encore Mode before Encode Mode

  5. Choctopus posted a new video. The gameplay is same from before, but this time with raw audio. Which means, we can hear the in-game audio better this time. Especially the soundtrack.

Still can't get over of this Supporting Me remix.

That's an old video, but seeing the "audio recorded on a dualsense" does make me wonder if anyone actually felt Haptic Feedback effects while playing. I know the answer is most likely "no" but I wish it was "yes".

I'm excited for the music previews they usually post on YouTube. They've got to do them, right?

I really hope they get Shadow right, because sweet Solaris, the last 2 times (outside of Superstars, which I didn't, and never will, play) the other characters were playable were complete disasters. Classic Sonic in Forces was so bad literally the only reason I replayed his stages was to get all the collectibles and S Ranks. I'll happily replay the Modern and Avatar levels, but Classic? Yeah, no thanks, I never liked the Classic games anyways. And don't even get me started on Amy, Knuckles, and Tails from TFH. ... Ok, maybe calling all 3 of them disasters is stretching it since only one of them had a miserable time outside of combat, not to mention TFH as a whole was a gigantic mess pre patch. And not only were his issues fixed in said patch, all 3 of them got major buffs to the damage they deal to the Guardians. Still, the fact they released like that, especially Knuckles, is something that just can't be ignored.

  9. They'll at least post one or two, yeah. That's what they did with Sonic Superstars, but after Team Sonic Racing, I noticed they wasn't sharing as much for the OST previews. I want to see it too because I'm curious who are the composers besides Jun Senoue. I still think it's possible Hidenori Shoji who did the Vengance is Mine remix.

The quality of the music will be superb. Gotta credit the musicians. I mean... why not?

Now there's an opinion I don't see here very often...

    You do you, though.

And by all means, I hope they nail the feel/vibe that Generations gameplay gave me initially. Forces wasn't actually terribly buggy, but designwise, it was a forgettable mess.

  12. What does Shadow have to do with the Classic games? Seems irrelevant to mention.

Um... Firstly: This is the topic for Sonic X Shadow Generations, so Shadow's quite relevant... Secondly: You know, Generations isn't just Generations because of its inclusion of Classic Sonic specifically, right?
The general concept is celebrating the series' history by representing its eras, its 'Generations'.
Shadow is a big part of Sonic's history, literally the second most popular character, and at this point he has over a decade of history, his own "generation', to cover, as it were...

Yes, people harping for Classic Sonic's return is what made Generations happen in the first place, I'm not denying that, but things can exist for and represent a multitude of things, not everything is black and white. At the end of the day, the whole thing's just a marketing ploy to tie into the hype of the third movie, if we want to get cynical about it.

I love that they are doing this but it is definitely poking at people’s nostalgia. They milked the cow with Classic Sonic. Well that’s what they (Sega) think but people just don’t want him and Present Sonic in the same games anymore.

Their new selling point will be ”let’s re-release these old games with a short game for characters like Knuckles, Tails, and Blaze.” This is a good way to play off of our nostalgia because we’ll get games that we have not seen since the early 00’s plus a short game with the supporting cast. I like it but it seems like a “SAFE” move. They could’ve re-released Generations alone and given Shadow his own game separately without re-used levels yet again. I am happy they brought him back but why does it have to be attached to Generations.

Some people do not want to buy that game again. It’s also $60. Remember the Shadow part is not a full game, they re-used levels again, and Generations looks almost exactly the same except drop dash maybe. Most of us who like Sonic games have played the hell out of it too.

    It’s $50 actually
And as usual with SEGA games, if the price is an issue for you, just wait a bit, they are very good about doing sales to their games soon after release

Yeah... Frontiers and Superstars were discounted to $30 by Black Friday, just a few weeks after release, and they've both regularly hung around there ever since. Chances are you'll be able to get SxS for around that price, if not even less (since its MSRP is lower), if you're able to wait a month.

The price would not be an issue if there was some kind of discount for existing Generations owners, but there obviously won't be.

If only they'd let us trade in our original copy of Gens for a discounted copy of Sonadow Gens...

Generations is a 13 year old game at this point, and has regularly been on sale for under £5.

If you want, we can talk about whether or not Shadow Generations should be made available as a standalone product on PC (it should) and if the original version of Generations should be delisted (it shouldn't). We can even talk about whether or not SXSG is too expensive (debatable). But wanting some kind of discount because you own already a product that's almost a decade and a half old is pretty ridiculous, ngl.

Puh, if that’s the case, I’d gladly trade in my Genesis Mk I for a PS5.

Remember, they still have to make $$$

Unfortunately they don’t make 6-in-1 carts anymore so you’ll need to get the game again, but now with an added portion. Why is this the re-release hill to die on?
