Still not dead. In fact, I got off my butt and started working on my renewed Ind. Heights Zone, taking place in the mid-afternoon, and it's gonna be a better city level. IT ain't gonna have loops or stuff you wouldn't ordinarily find. Actually, The beggining of the level(Act 1 to begining of Act 2) Will take place on a highway. I'm thinking of making it very reminicent to Megaman X, perhaps.

Looks nice. I'm glad to see you still working on this.

I like the sound of that. I think having loops would still be kind of neat, but that's me. Please make some of the buildings different colors and add perhaps some mountains or water back behind them. Trust me on this one.

Not bad ideas you have there, Hyena. I want to stay away from mountians, but water is plausible, if I can figure out how to implement that and make it look good..

It looks kinda flat at the moment.

Use the depth-tricks with the buildings like they did for SBZ & OOZ bg's for example.
Foreground buildings with shadowy bg buildings.

Agreed. You could also use some shadows from the buildings in the foreground on the ones in the back.

IIRC you already showed a better bg with buildings before.
    It's on page 5.

I deleted it to start anew. I'm going for a day time view of a city, the old one just wouldn't work.

Working on some Foreground images. Don't worry about the Palette there, I'm just toying with it for now.

    Triple post. Dang.

So there is the beggining of the first level, hot off the presses, it took me forver to think up something for the bottom stuff, so I made it some variation of pillers and stones, which took me the longest to do and make it look nice.

The pillars and the structure with the yellow look great but the platforms with the square thingies need more detail somehow, but I like where this is going.

Looking good so far. Though I will agree with Sith about the details. I'm sure figure out something. =P

Why not make the guard-rails taller with bigger holes in them?

Gazing out into the highway. 'Course, once everything is done, you will not be standing and enjoying the scenery.

Destruction is everywhere, you need a quick jump to avoid falling.

    The one rooftop tile.

When you delete all the tiles, you always overwrite the old ones. And then you walking on air!Looking at flying vehicles and laughing!

So yeah, somethings ended up smaller then expected, and there are some annoying tiles not working right, my fault, though. So, anyway, comments?

Hmm, looking nice so far. However I'm going to say the BG needs more than just clouds. Add some buildings, some close, some off in the distance. Again though, what you having is coming along well.

I still say that you should add more to the background. Water, trees, more buildings, or mountains. Hey, how about all 3?

Edit: Please, also add more color!

    Those clouds need some work.

And it looks like the entire level is using the second palette line. I would suggest to use more colors and adding more art.

I agree with the above 3 posters. Still, it's coming along nicely.
Also, try to make those square dots in the rails look like steel nails hammered in.
Even on 8-bit they could create a simple pixel effect to make it look like that. Shouldn't be hard to do.

A bump, sorry, but I have to explain the reasons why your not going to see a release very soon. I'll start at the top.

I have no internet access at the place I'm staying at. I'm actually legally homeless, and going to be kicked out of the very place I'm staying at (my mother's friend's northern home. It's a dump). The computer I set up there, but I can't work on it because, of course, the monitor is shot. It won't read the screen. But, Lucky me, found an old but cheap computer monitor at the Salvation army, and I hope it will work, so I can get back to work on the hack.

I also lack the technical skills to add the functions I need, but StephenUK had initially agreed to help me on this(Thing is, with no internet access, I have no idea if he is still willing to help). These features will help add a little spice to the hack, whenever it gets released.

So, the hack is still not dead. Floundering, yes, but not dead.
