The Super Sonic Spin attack has been used to name different moves over the time so certainly I get confused. If I'm not wrong it also was used for the jumping move. I guess it's just when Sonic rolls, however was it done. Anyways, I get confused so I just go with soft and hard spindash =P

Whoever made those very similar names should be shot.

    I never had a manual, am I forgiven? =P

Couldn't you hold the "Action Button" and have Knuckles and Tails roll across the ground in Sonic Adventure?

To tell the truth, if it wasn't for the stupid (looking boring like hell) hack n slash mechanics of the Warehog levels, I'd like that part of the game more than the giant QTE of the Sonic gameplay. If only they had concentrated more on the platforming and less on the combat.

It didn't work that way, it was if they were running and pressed the action button. In case of Tails, you couldn't have the upgrade for the tail spin (how was it called?).

IIRC, if you hit the action button when running at full speed as Tails, he does a Sonic Spin like move. And the Sonic Adventure spin dash could be used the same way, but you would still get a burst of speed, but you didn't need to stop for it.

Seriously though, this is shaping up nicely. A welcome change in the 3D platformers.

Right, finally took a look at the videos. I'm surprised and pleased to see that the Wii version appears to be much more 2D-centric, and doesn't appear to have any severe graphical inadequacies, either! I'm not too hot on how far the camera is zoomed out, but that's a minor issue at this point.

It's pretty clear that whoever was playing in the latter two videos had no idea what the hell they were doing. Couldn't run in a straight line, couldn't jump more than an inch in the air, and could hardly aim for enemies when doing homing attacks. Pretty annoying.

It is interesting to see how much the 2D sections play like Megamix, though! It wouldn't surprise me if it was intentional, either, but that's okay—it's always been part of my formula for my personal "ideal" Sonic game. The new moves always did have the ability to play pretty well in the 2D platformers, and this only enforces that, really. They could also do with some more variation in the layout instead of "straight line straight line okay NOW you can have some action," but I'm pretty happy with what I see. :)

The videos were very pleasing to the eyes for me. The Wii version and the 360/PS3 one seem rather different at least in terms of style, which isn't too surprising, but rather pleasant to know. I'm also glad to see the slow down diminished so much since the E3 version. I'm looking forward to November for certain. =P

Looks promising. The hack-and-slash portions look a bit dry, if only because the enemies take too long to die, but the platforming sections make me swear that the Werehog is channeling Ristar, which I was suspicious of after I read about Werehog gameplay in Nintendo Power—the phrase was something to the effect that as the Werehog, you'd be able to grab some flying enemies and dangle from them in midair with your stretching arms. Having done that many, many times in Ristar, it didn't take long for me to make the connection.
Meanwhile, the normal-Sonic stages look like somewhere between Sonic Rush and what Secret Rings should have been, which is all good in my book.

My only problem with the running levels was how much Sonic talked and made noise. Everything he did he made a noise. Sometimes there was a "AAARUUGGGHH" for no reason as well O_o
Other than that it looked quite a bit like fun. Maybe a little bit "hold right" but there seems to be a lot of different paths that the player choose not to take.

I got bored with the werewolf footage about half way though. Hopefully it's more fun to play than it is to watch.

    Internet.
Kiosks are the individual little booths they have the game running in.

anyways, I seriously like how this is shaping up, was pleasantly surprised by the Wii version, yadda yadda yadda, everything everyone else has already said, etc.

They had multiple booths of the same game set up so more than one person could play. You're hearing shit from several people playing Unleashed at once.

Yeah, these were all off-camera recordings. The booths are all blasting the sound at max and everyone is playing the game at these booths. Off-camera recordings are never really good at capturing a game's audio, so most of the other talking from Sonic was coming from other booths when people died or attacked or what have you.
