300mph is just the ingame speed. We know he can go well over that.

Wasn't his dash speed supposed to be 760 mph? Or is that Eggman's IQ? I can never get these things straight.

Nothing that concerns this place in the least.

It's caused by a phenomenon know as temporal aliasing. The new off sceen footage is at too low a frame rate to capture every stride, so it makes it look like Sonic's legs are moving slower than they are. for some reason, most distributions (for lack of a better word) of the E3 trailer have the same problem. Compare the one at Game Trailers to the one from the Sonic World Adventure site (Can someone rip that video? it's the only version I've seen that's at 30 fps).

E:even the 360 MB version of off Sega's ftp is at 15 fps!!

It's the same effect that make car wheels look like they are going backwards on tv, I think.

Basically if you have footage at 60 frames per second and the wave formulas that represent the position of Sonic's feett at a given time are hitting the same values at every 60th of a second, Sonic's feet are going to look like they are standing still. Yes, aliasing is the word. Actually, the aliasing point starts at exactly half the sample rate. As in, if you are getting the same values every 30th of a second. At that point, it will be impossible to discern whether the feet are going backwards or forwards and going a little faster will result in it starting to look like the feet are back-pedalling. As the rate of movement increases, they'll gradually stop at 60hz. Over 60hz they'll start to look like they are moving forward again. From there, the cycle repeats itself at 1/2c*sample frequency endlessly in a pingponging fashion. Sonic can be moving 8 times as fast as he is at the 30hz range, but the feet will look exactly the same in motion.

Oh!!! I get it. The camera recording the screen just makes it look that way ;)

I like the Game Trailers version better, it doesn't give me a headache. For the first time, I'm actually EXCITED about this game.

He could run coast to coast along the US in seconds. I'm more than sure he goes faster than sound with ease.

Oh wow. The one on the official Sega site is glorious. Sadly, that's the first time I've seen the game running at that fluidity. I hope Sega can at least optimize the game enough that it runs at that fluidity 99.9% of the time (100% would be nice, but is unrealistic, especially when action gets frantic.)

It apparently actually suffers from horrible frame rate issues according to a recent impressions article on IGN though... :\

    Internet.
It's IGN. They're probably wrong, retarded, and visually impaired.

They aren't visually impaired, they're just biased toward the sponsor companies.

It looks like the nighttime enemies (the ones you fight as the warehog) have a static texture, similer to how plad was animated in old cartoons.

I kindof find it hard to doubt an editorial claim of bad framerates. If anything IGN in the past has been known to be sugarcoat Sonic games like crazy up till review time. :\

They're only pretty much saying Super Sonic is in this game in some form again, which isn't very surprising. Most likely, he'll be locked in as a final battle only thing along with a Super form for the Werehog.

If the scan was better, I could get a better idea on what they're talking about in the three points, but for the most part, it's highlighting that Super Sonic is in the opening, something with the seven chaos emeralds, and something about speed ups. Again, it's not exactly the greatest but I can only do so much until we get a better scan.

not to mention he's in the opening FMV :|

Really though, as simple as a super sonic function is, I don't see why they've left it out for so long...
