THat's uhm... not the FPS you're dealing with.

Rather odd that it only happened then. I run at 30 fps and remain nearly completely glitch free. (Exceptions? Tails has a tendency to not cooperate.)

I anticipate the Wii version of this game with cautious excitement. It's developed by Dimps, who made Sonic Rush, which I liked, so I will give it a rental on release.

As for the 360/PS3 version? That one can go suck it. I have absolutely no faith in Sega to fix the bugs/slowdown before release. None at all.

  4. There's a big difference between lag and FPS. Heroes runs fine on my computer at 60 fps, and fine at 15 fps. Only thing FPS changes is your response time. Whether it's 60 FPS or 30 FPS doesn't make a large difference. Anything lower would be obvious to the human eye.

    Edit:

Hinchy, reason sonic 06 lagged on both systems is because:

    A. They were planning to take the hardware to its limits
    B. They didn't have enough time to sort things out.

Blaring obvious, kinda like the code bug in sonic 1 where the water effect causes it to slow down. (Someone on cult found a fix for it)

That there is actually the FPS limit. You must have a really powerful graphics card to get no difference. I have a nVidia GeForce 2 MX/MX400 so I get real lousy speed when at high FPS. The thing is that the game tries to always run at 60 FPS, therefore it skips frames to keep that speed making it look like lag.
Having a lower FPS limit makes it faster and avoids a lot of frame skipping.

Yes. As I said, with an nVidia GeForce 2 having a game run at 60 FPS makes it slower.

Yes. The graphics were too high for the consoles so it had to do some frameskipping (making it look like lag)

EDIT: I suck cocks with my GeForce 2 again.

This made me lol. Someone ignored the instructions during the loading screen.

An Australian magazine has written a thing about Sonic Unleashed. It's strange that they're complaining about having difficulty jumping on rails, because I haven't seen anyone have any trouble with it. You can also play a little game of "count how many times they contradict themselves", first praising the level design, then calling it too simplistic. But man, it's still having frame rate issues? Either they were playing an old build of the game, or Sonic Team needs to step it up.

I found both of these via cutefluffykittens

Wow. Somebody's never played a 3D Sonic game. On the bright side, this playthrough shows that the stage isn't exactly as linear as it looked in previous playthroughs. I also notice Sonic slides down the wall in a similar fashion to Mega Man X... probably just used for the wall-jumping sections, but still looks cool. Did anyone else notice how Sonic's bounce off enemies without the homing attack is noticabely higher this time around? Before it was like nothing - now it's like another jump, just like in the oldschool days. I bet you can cross that one gap without even honing in on those hovering badniks.

Good, because in Sonic '06, you HAD to homing attack, you couldn't jump on an enemy.

Now in the daytime segments, few if any robots are taking more than one hit, right?

I consider that a step in the right direction. I could forgive it in Heroes since you've got three characters at a time, but in 06? Fuck no.

Totally agree (with the exception that I can't forgive Heroes) :objection: .
It simply has no point, especially if all you have to do, is to push several times the same button...

haha that's hilarious! Poor Sonic XD

You know it actually started to kind of piss me off in the end. Jumping CANNOT be that hard.

It isn't. I think the people playing horrendously suck and can't comprehend how to push the right button when they're showing them on the screen.

With the comedial aspect of the person not being able to play the game aside, after watching "normal" gamelay, I couldn't stand the physics of the game! It looks as if Sonic is just popping into place, runs through and over everything in Crusin' USA/World/Exotica type fashion (which started in 1994!), his legs don't match the speed he's going (he's going at the speed of sound, but his legs scream brisk jog!), and it looks as if you just have to hold the joy stick UP and occasionally press A to move. I don't get why they must cater to 3 year olds. I hope Wal-Mart has the demo for this game soon so I can try it out myself on the 360.

If you remember the DS tech demo, Sonic's legs started moving slower as he hit more and more "speed ups" or whatever. I imagine that someone with legs as strong as Sonic's (after all, they'd have to be), could push hard enough with his legs to go as fast as he could by quickly jamming them against the ground. And if he's already got the momentum of going 300 miles/hour (which would take incredible leg work to reach), he can laze a little and coast at that speed. It's like cruise control almost.

I don't know if that made any sense.

...or it's just a video game using a talking blue hedgehog so it doesn't have to make sense. Admittedly, though, this one time they could have got away with a cartoony figure-8 run.

That's would have been lovely to see in 3D glory....it's a short cut they could afford to take.

if you want Figure 8 Sonic in 3D play Brawl, his run is the Figure 8 there, as is his one taunt
