    I don't know why SEGA insists a fuzzy creature is made of spraypainted aluminum/plastic. Sonic's Brawl model/texture was spot on. Sonic didn't reflect light at all.
     
  2. That explains the redesigns. The entire Sonic cast was shot before SA1 and replaced with aluminium/plastic hybrid robots.

    I cant wait for this game to come out! It really looks promising, although im still unsure about were-sonic (sp?) It just doesnt look fun. Bt the rest of the game looks amazing! I can't wait to have a go on the china level :)

    Some new stuff about the Wii version. It sounds like the leveling up of Sonic takes place during the night levels, powered by red orbs... like very other hack 'n slash in recent memory.
    Sonic's Sonic Adventure 1 model was basically perfect, ironically because it didn't follow the new art work very closely.

    Things I liked about Sonic Heroes:

    1. Level Music without overacheving lyrics

    2. The brief return of SPECIAL STAGES TO GET EMERALDS

    3. Seaside Hill had a checker pattern

    4. Metal Sonic became the Terminator


    Things I couldn't stand:

    1. Feeling weak and defenseless if I was playing as Sonic alone (like if tails and knuckles both dissapeared for a few moments). How horrible a feeling is that playing as Sonic by him self and being powerless and feeling naked as you play the game?! But this is really for any character, but it hurt immensely with Sonic.

    2. Tedious bosses

    3. 2 versions of Robot Storm (That was such crap to even happen ONCE)

    4. Having to do the same shit 4 times (Although it adds to the mundane replay value)

    Yeah, I've always been of the opinion that the DC models were more aesthetically pleasing than the SADX ones, even if they're lower poly or whatever. The general shaping and texturing was better, really, and it looked more like classic Sonic despite the new "hip" Sonic design in the cover and manual. The only think that SADX was really better with was the higher framerate, but even that was in limited quantity—the game could hardly stay above 45, even at good points.

    And I don't get all the hate on Heroes. I always thought it was a solid game, and more faithful to the classic games than a lot of 3D Sonic games before it. I mean, the levels totally fit the cliches and graphical styles of the classic games—the Green Hill level, the gigantic factory level, the casino level, the Aquatic Ruin/secondary grass level, the Mystic Cave/spooky area level... etc etc.

    Take a look at Sonic clichés for a better idea of what I mean. If you compare the standard Sonic 2/3 list of motifs to Heroes, you'll be able to draw a lot of parallels. I can hardly say the same for, say, Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Adventure comes close, but it doesn't really capture the feeling as well. Not to say that SA2 wasn't good, of course, but it was lacking that Sonic charm that Heroes did an awesome job at replicating in 3D. If the physics weren't so slippy and the team system didn't exist, it might have been more universally enjoyable, but that doesn't discredit what fun it is to play.

    I think I'll just blame renderware (the middleware that Sonic Heroes used). I haven't played heroes in a while, maybe I'll give it another whirl. If I can find it.

    From what I see:

    Sonic: He's more shiny

    Tails: His head is more Shiny

    Knuckles: I think he looks better in SADX, his pose is a little different too.

    Amy: I barly see any difference

    Gamma: His looks are more rich in SADX....his DC look reminds me of Virtua Fighter for some reason

    Sonic Sonic: That question mark comparision made my laugh attack of the day!


    As far as Sonic Cliches go, I think Sky Sanctuary belongs in the "Ruins" portion of the list.

    Heroes isn't bad, it's just every level plays like Emerald Hill Zone with very little variance in gameplay difficulty and style.

    If only Yuji Naka didn't require you to memorize his birthday in order to skip it in Sonic 2. :v:

    I found this more satisfying.

    I noticed that Camp Sonic has a shot of part of Mykonos that's outside of the town(seen here), and it looks like part of an "action stage", but in the full level video, it ends when Sonic reaches the city limits. So, either they made parts outside of stages look like that as well, or we're looking at act 2.

    I also think that SU's Mykonos looks more like Santorini Island than it does the real Mykonos

    Well, he _is_ shinier, if that's your thing.


    Don't get me started on Sonic Heroes, because that game was an unplayable mess. Its only saving grace was the checkered floor in the first stage (the music was pretty cool though). And yeah, I did complete the game with all the emeralds. It was less fun than Sonic Labyrinth, and a whole lot buggier.

    Stuff like this happens all the time in that game. It was a nightmare to play.

    Feh. Adventure was 1000 times worse in THAT regard. Then again, I took a lot of risks to try to get super-high-giant-speedruns.


    Power Plant in about 5 minutes? Easy as cake!

    Adventure NEVER EVER had any of those horrible bugs shown in that Heroes vid. Not even when you try to push it to the limit trying to go through shortcuts
