Sonic Unleashed Mobile

I too am extremely surprised. Mostly in a positive way. It looks like the lovechild of Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush. It might make a good DS game too. I don't have an iPhone, but I'd like to have this game. Maybe they'll think about porting it to the DS. Graphics are slightly rough looking and we don't really know what it feels like, but it's definitely looking better than a lot of recent Sonic games. Like I said, I'd get this if it were on DS and was well received.

 

Well, I think it's official, the iPhone gaming market has officially emerged. I think this is the third official Sonic game that has been announced/released for the iPhone in the past month.

Nonetheless, this game looks very interesting. Wonder how much it'll cost, since it's a new game and looks pretty advanced.

 

I don't think this is for the iPod Touch. The screen is different, and how would it control?

Granted this does looks better than I thought it would, but I wouldn't really go that far.

 

Looks interesting. Shame it's stuck on iPhone. Wouldn't make too bad a DS game.

Now if only they could make the music not sounds so... cheap.

 

Well it does fit on the screen but it leaves no room for controls. How do you play? I'm going to say that this is going to be on some phone, but not the iphone

 

I love that Sonic sprite. Looks like the perfect combination of old Sonic and new. I hope it gets ripped.

 

I'm gonna say just like you play almost every other iphone game; 'ghost' controls. Invisible.

 

Such as- Sonic 06, Sonic Black Knight, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Chronicles to name a couple. Then of course, there's that *cringe* GBA version of Sonic the Hedgehog. There are fun ones like Unleashed, Advance, and Rush. And there are some decent ones like Heroes. But this one looks like a fun one.

Still think it would have made a kick ass DS game most likely. It would be dead easy to port it over anyways. From the looks of it, it is all sprites and no 3D. Even Rush had 3D elements. Reminds me very much of Rush+Advance.

 

Yeah, the music seems to be the worst part.

Man, it'd be surreal if suddenly Sonic became a mascot for Apple's foray into the gaming industry. Having a Sonic exclusive, and a good one at that, could give the iPhone a good deal more legitimacy as a gaming platform. Well, as much legitimacy as Sonic the Hedgehog still has these days.

 

Game looks pretty awful IMO.

If they can pull an Apple IPhone port of the game, why not DS or PSP?

Surely they can, if the right team was behind it.

Instant $$$ in my opinion.

 

Correction they're going for the Sonic Advance 2 approach where all you need is one button, and that moves you right.

In all seriousness though this game does look pretty good, too bad I'll never be able to play it.

 

Sonic is kinda ugly, though the game looks like Sonic Rush with potentially decent level design.

Also this means official midi transcriptions of a lot of in-game tunes!

 

This isn't a port. It is a completely new game with the same name with levels sharing similar art to the console game. There are also no 3D segments, it's fully 2D in both gameplay and graphics.

Also, even the Wii/PS2 versions weren't ports of the 360/PS3 versions. None of the levels shared any of the same structure or anything. For something to be a port, the game must have not only identical levels and such, the actual code has to have come from the original game directly. This game is completely built from the ground up at least. But who knows, it kind of looks like Sonic Rush. They might actually be using some assets from that one. Doubt it though.

 

I think he meant the same thing that I though of -- a Sonic Rush clone getting an iPhone release but skipping the DS entirely seems an absurd idea indeed.

 

Where do you see it stated that this is for the iPhone?

This looks pretty awesome, I don't have an iPhone though. I want it for the DS.
