It's funny how all the best presents I'm getting today are on my computer. Cyber City looks great, and I can't wait for a release. =)

Wow, this hack is looking nice. Are you planning on doing any gameplay ASM modification?

Looking good! You could use a bit more detail on the flat parts of the foreground, but it's definitely a good start. Think about adding some sort of texture to vary things up a bit. Scrap Brain should be your main inspiration for this Zone's general style; if you can nail that, you've got a real winner on your hands.

Keep up the great work! :(

Now that I know that this is coming, I feel like Kristen Wiig's over-anxious SNL character.

    "Ohhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyy GAAAAAAAAAHD!" :-P

I like Cyber city, but what bothers me is that in the original concept image, there are many pinball-like features. It has a tube with an exit flap, the piece that propels you up, and what seems to be a dash panel in a depression like in Spring Yard Zone. Also, there is a strange laser that is reminiscent of the one in Metallic Madness of Sonic CD. Maybe these features could be added. This is the concept (just putting it here)

Just posting to say that all level layouts are done now. That means the layouts and all the objects and rings are all placed, and event scripts and bosses are in also. Some of the bosses need little fixes but they're in. So, things are still looking good.

Here's what I still have to do:
    - Fix any collision issues
    - Add background deformation (and maybe adjust cameras)
    - Make level demos (shown from title screen)
    - Remove 2 player from title screen menu
    - Edit credits (Maybe)

The background deformation is the thing I'm not sure how to do yet. I'll try to figure it out or something. I haven't seen any guides or explainations for it. Removing 2 player from the title screen menu and editing credits are the other things I don't know how to do yet, except that I obviously have to edit the code for the objects.

What I might do if I can figure it out is to create objects that make real effects for the quicksand in DHZ, the ice in WTZ, and the water slide in HPZ. But, I'll have to see about that. The only other thing I might do is change Sonic and Tails on the title screen to how they look in the beta. I know some people said they prefer the Sonic 2 final look but I don't know so we'll see about that.

Anyway, the levels turned out ok. Some of the graphics could be tweaked a little if I think of anything but they're pretty much final. The style and difficulty of the levels is pretty much like Sonic 1 & 2, I guess, but you guys will be be the judge of that. That's about all for now, I'll be working on this.

Did you consider porting the one from Labyrinth Zone?

You mean the underwater current? It could work if I also modified it so that Sonic isn't laying down since you'll have to be able to jump to get the rings and at the end of the water slide.

Yea, I tried to do that at one point but I couldn't since it's not placeable. There are pools of quicksand but not across the whole level. I also thought about that oil slide effect for the ice but I think that wasn't placeable either.

I am talking about the water slides at the beginning of Labyrinth Zone Act 3. I'm pretty sure those would be the best to use. Here is a video (about 6 seconds in).

Someone (StephenUK, I think), was able to use it as a grind rail in his hack.

  20. The oil slides are assigned to certain tiles. Check S2's oil slides routine and find the table. There it has the speed/direction and above the tiles (sort of table like). I haven't been able to make the table bigger, but there's a start.
