As mentioned earlier in this thread, an OST was never released. The "OST" as people label on YouTube are simply cut and paste jobs from the audio in the movie itself. You'll often hear sound effects and clipping where bits of audio were spliced together. It's a solid effort, but it's simply not possible to have full versions of the songs without sound effects from the movie's footage alone.

That said, I'd like us to do some sort of research in contacting the music's composer to see if we can get full, clean versions of the OVA's music. That would be amazing!

Even though I think that's near impossible and the composer might not still have the songs... I'd die to have a full version of that first song that the Owl's flying to South Island, or when Sonic and Tails are at the lower dimension, escaping from spikes and dashing through badniks and springs.

None at the moment, sadly...not skilled enough yet!
    You're referring to Mitsuhiro Tada, yes? I actually managed to come across MP3s of the music, but they were directly ripped from the movie DVD itself. That seems to be as close as anyone's come to an OST so far. Since the actual official OST CD was cancelled, the DVD rips are all fans have to go on for now. ^^;

Hell yeah, I love the movie.

I picked it up at Barnes & Noble (out of town) shortly after its release. It was kickass. XD

I ordered a DVD version later so I could keep watching it. I've shown it to friends now, who love it... so much they need to give me my damn disc back! >>

    But...

It's the best animated Sonic, ever. XD I love the scene upon entering the World or Darkness and the music! And really, the story is okay too. And the appearance of Metal. XD

Just watched it, cool movie, weak ending though. It has the classical Sonic feel, mixed with some random humor. But I hoped that
    Metal Sonic could survive

How they managed to miss THAT when they were censoring we'll never know. :)

I make a regular habit of watching this movie. I wanted
Metal Sonic to live, too, though

I bought the DVD for 15€ a while back but I assume it to be some bootleg. The DVD's got Chinese subtitles and hilariously bad English ones.

None the less, it's a great film and so far the only animation (Sonic CD opening and ending aside) that was able to portray the feel and spirit of the early games.

Also, with Robotnik saying that he's got a copy of Sonic's data and plans to build a new Metal Sonic (this time without the "Hyper") that won't be affected by Sonic's personality, would the OVA be the pre-story of Sonic CD?!

    No,
because the CD with Sonic's data has been destroyed by the turtle
    , iirc.

Sure it has, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had a backup of the data somewhere else.

I never really liked Sonic the Movie. Tails' voice just annoyed me so much! I also felt that it was too dark for a Sonic cartoon. Some of it was good though! I remember waiting for ages for it to be released on DVD so I could watch it. I could never find it anywhere (in any format) before then.

This movie was freaking awesome and hilarious! I saw it for the first time on Sunday. I can't believe I never seen it as a kid!

Wow, that is awesome. And like everyone else on here has already said, it definitely reminds me of Sonic CD.

Someone needs to splice Sonic Adventure voice acting into this.

I just got an idea: modify Sonic Adventure to resemble this movie.

Allright, I just saw it for the first time, and I can't beleave I missed this movie for almost 10 years. Now I feel a more complete Sonic fan.
This was the best anime/cartoon redintion ever made of Sonic. The OVA has a really strong Sonic CD feel, expecially in the music, but the parts were I asked myself "why none of the others are like this?" was the one were Sonic & Tails arrive in the land of Darkness. Seeing Sonic jumping over spikes, or avoiding Badnicks, or when he jumps over a bumper. Every piece of this resembled a Sonic game.
Man, too bad this was never released in Europe.

Yeah, I too feel sorry for Metal Sonic, but it is still a great death in the end, and his final words "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE SONIC", awesome. Its best death ever.

The voice actors are not that bad after all, and this is kinda "Straaaange, isn't it" if compared to some of the modern ones.

I am amazed that no one has put these way past cool flowers into a hack yet.
My favorite part was when Sonic and Tails first meet Metal Robotnik, and Tails tries to copy what Sonic is doing. I also think this movie has the best voice for Tails, by far.

    E: Waitaminute...

Amazing, it's a preemptive Star Wars reference!
Did metal Sonic's death remind anyone else of Episode 3?

My favourite scene in the movie had to be this one. "AHH MY HAT'S ON FIRE" will live on in my memory forever, along with "watch out you're gonna crash ahh" and other awkward lines.
