This is it. This is fucking it. What a way to close off 2020 (or start 2021. Timezones lol). Thank you so much. What a day.
Posting in epic thread. Include me in screencap pls. No, seriously. I think only the binary with the welcome sign could ever top this.
And today is my birthday. I've been in this community since 1998. This is the best birthday gift I could ask for.
An amazing day and lovely insight to how sonic 1 was being made at that point of time, really cool stuff.
Man, I don't know what to say; I seriously wasn't expecting this to be released after all these years. Thank you so much.
Just amazing. Thank you SOOOOOOOO much drx! We don't deserve absolute legends like you! You're one in 7.6 million.
It became my birthday local time when the ROM release dropped, so ditto on the birthday gift notion! I never thought I'd see the day. Thanks to all involved in making this release a reality.
Congratulations! Never thought I would see this day come. I don't have high hopes of the "Welcome" super early build ever being dumped but this is pretty good closure for getting a legit Sonic 1 prototype out the door. Perhaps with some luck maybe we can find earlier prototypes of this or of Sonic 3 with more S&K levels still intact.
What if I'd told you in October 2019 that by the end of 2020 we'd have prototypes of Sonic 3 AND Sonic 1. Wow. What a time to be alive. This truly is the best timeline, the one following God's plan.
OMG!!! The holy grail of prototypes has finally been unearthed!!! This is awesome!! I can’t wait to check it out!!
Reposting this from the other thread with more acknowledgements. I have no words. Thank you, @drx, ehw, Buckaroo, TCRF, everyone else at Hidden Palace, and realistically the many people who I don't know that are behind this historic release. This is a day that I never thought would come... and I don't think any of us could have. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I know we don't want to risk any sort of takedown, but someone needs to let Naka know that this has been recovered somehow. He had major interest in seeing the Welcome Proto recovered a number of years back in an interview, and I feel like he'd get a big kick out of seeing video footage of this proto again.
