A release with more than just GHz please =P. This is a lovely hack, but the fact there has been no recent release makes my skin itch.

Awesome. Didn't expect to see the ring polarity thing to actually make it in when I was talking about it with Overlord.

Not like you need to be told, but take as long as you need. From what I've played from the demo, this is shaping up to be a very solid job. I'm a little concerned about being able to grab all the Chaos Emeralds by repeatedly entering and exiting a level, but I guess that might be resolved in the final build.

Already fixed, it's something I forgot about in the age-old demo. First time you play an act, you can get to the Special Stage. Second time you play, where there is an alternate object placement (and possibly slight layout changes), you can get to the Special Stage or Negative Special Stage, but if you get in the big ring(s) this time, it records that you've done so and locks you out from getting it again. Simply, you can access the normal Special Stage twice (or once if you miss it the first time through), and the Negative Special Stage once. :x

So if you fail a special stage (a certain number of times) you won't be able to get (all) the emeralds?

    That sucks o.o;;

I guess that would make sense though. Like if you failed too many times in S1 by missing the ring, you would be screwed out of getting them all.

Well, you'll have to wait until you've completed the game and all the special stage rings are unlocked again. Bad Ending ahoy?

How cruel of you guys, making me take that test. :blushing:

I have to tell you, Cinossu, that I love your Sonic Extended Edition to pieces. If you complete this hack, I shall never need to play the original Sonic 1 ever again. The interface for selecting levels, the changing of the palette for every new act – it's all done so professionally. I can't wait to see what else you're putting into this. Please, keep up the good work!

That was... a large bump. Yet I do kinda agree with you on the awesomeness of this hack. What amazing feature will Cinossu come up with next?

Actually, I just realised that it wasn't a large bump at all... which makes this post useless. Well, I suppose my compliments are something, but seriously, I should have just waited for the next big revelation... or the next demo...

I might as well give my opinion on the subject of Special Stage re-enterance, and that just happens to be... well, once is enough. It was like that in Sonic 1, although you had a larger timeframe to collect all the emeralds (6 emeralds, and... a few zones. Zones X 2 = Opportunities to get emeralds, but useless info like that is just filler... usually.)

Yeah, I should stop continuously editing my post, and lengthening it's contents... but hey, gotta make half an hour last!

I've probably answered the special stage re-entry thing somewhere else in here, but I'm too lazy to search for the post. :P Here's how it works.

First play through an act, you have loads of rings. Special stage ring appears at the end of the level. Woo, etc. You fail it.
Second play through the act, there are rings and negative rings throughout the act. You collect 50 rings, and the special stage ring appears. You fail it.
Third play through the act, and you collect 50 rings. No special stage ring. D:

Fourth play through the act, and you collect 50 negative rings. "Negative" special stage ring appears. You fail it.
Fifth play through, you collect 50 negarings. No nega special stage ring. D:

tldr; First play through the ss ring will appear. Second play through the ss rings will appear once, and once alone. Only once you've completed Final Zone will special stage rings appear again for you to complete if you haven't by then.

The only thing that we are actually really waiting for, or that I am, is just for updates rather than a build, because being kept up to date totally jacks up the hype. M I rite Sakurai? I just hope Cinossu doesn't run out of updates and is forced to hand out secrets as the new updates. </ninja>

    I have another question:

Can you select any zone you want that you've already completed (like Sonic Advance) or do you have to complete the game in order to select zones (like Sonic 3)?

You remember in the last demo (very long time ago now), after defeating the boss there was another warp ring, to the "demo complete" screen? That links to Marble Zone's map, and on Marble Zone's map is a link back to Green Hill's map. ie. SAd3 style selection. You can 'select' any zone you've already been to.

But does that mean if your on Scrap Brain, and you want to play some Green Hill, you'll have to go through all the levels? Or will there be some sort of warp world, similar to Sa3?

Looking for a Rom Hack to Test.
The more I hear about this hack, the more excited I am about playing it when its eventually finished! To think SEGA could have done so much more with Sonic Games if they wanted to!

You'll have to go through every zone, no "warp zone" until the very end.

Is the "warp zone" going to be a new section to that Tidal Tempest "zone", or it is going to be a different thing?
