SAG-AFTRA Approves Deal, Actors’ Strike to End Tonight.

 

Congrats to the actors! I hope the third movie is good (and that the rest of the team is not crunched by the studio not accounting for the strike), though I honestly have no idea what direction they could take to both satiate fans and make a critically well-received film.

 

I think they're most likely going to be alright. The script was completed before the WGA strike and production was shifted so that the CG prep work was moved up to account for the SAG-AFTRA strike. Sonic 2's filming with the cast was done over a 4 month period a year before the film's release. Sonic 3 still has a full year before its release and they already began filming in September.
The majority of the production is going to be tied up in the VFX shots with the various CG animation studios, and those guys don't have a union like SAG-AFTRA, WAG, or DGA to protect them.

This is very good news for Sonic 3 and Paramount. That Christmas release should be pretty secure.

 

Glad the strike is finally over and that the actors got what they wanted. Guess we'll finally get the Knuckles series trailer soon since they can promote stuff again?

This also means Star Trek SNW and Deadpool 3 are back on track. Woot.

I have a proposal

 

SA2 kind of feels like a "last Sonic game" in terms of tone and plot escalation anyway. Heroes takes things in a very different-feeling direction, Shadow the game completely wallows in SA2 while having nothing to say, and 06 onward are basically just new stories from the ground up.

This would be their chance to actually pull that clean break off, which is what makes it ironic that they absolutely will not let Shadow actually die at the end.

 

Once you go to space, there's no more sharks to jump.

 

Fuck it, I'd be up for it.

If they keep skipping around and grabbing iconography only from the most culturally relevant Sonic games, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will pull from heroes and then 5 will just jump over to Frontiers
