I think Sonic 4 will at least let you-know-who become more popular.

(I mean, it's not like they are niche characters, y' know...)

I think for Sonic 4 they should scale things back and have only Sonic appear.

I don't disagree with a lot here. There's tons of existing material to adapt, but I believe the funds garnered for each film will start to trickle downwards, possibly incentivizing Paramount to end things at a high note - The conversation is shifted towards Paramount's favour though (at least online), the quality of these films in comparison to the current Disney brand seems to be a key factor in the Blue Blur's impressive cinematic success, so Paramount might instead try to capitalize on the series for as long as they can?

Mixed bag all around, and its way too early to be making any solid judgments, but it all comes down to Paramount's willingness to dump all their money on this series bound to get crazier with each release after another. Having a movie every two to three years will probably get easier with time, and be the better overall option for audiences in comparison to the yearly determination of Marvel & Disney. The latter company butchering screenings is going to be hell in the future, I don't know if the
House of Mouse wants to risk another Sonic 3 getting in the way of a huge release again.

... Mentioning Bokkun got me conceptualizing about the most solid, buckwild choice for a spin-off: I would actively support an 'Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog' spiritual successor set in Green Hills, where Scratch & Grounder actively meddle with the Wachowski family (and promptly the hedgehog's) daily life. Get Tubby McSad or whatever from the Knuckles series to show up for it, make Wade do something funny, I dunno - I'm just desperately craving ✨antics✨.

I can't call a game with frame rate problems "polished". Sonic part is 31,5 FPS, and Shadow part has constant stuttering thanks to bad frame pacing.

I don't understand this comparison. The current Disney brand is strong, incredibly strong. They're the only studio post pandemic to cross $5 billion at the box office in a year. A majority of their movies this year received favorable reviews. Sonic and Disney have only come to blows at the box office once, and that was due to the strikes forcing Disney to push back Mufasa. It's not like it's a regular occurring thing to be comparing the two.

I don't think a comparison is needed at all. What is interesting to note however is that Sonic held on when faced with real competition. Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 opened on quiet release windows. Sonic 3 entered a competitive market and still managed to do great. That's not a stain against the other films, that's a testament to how well this franchise has managed to build a stable and growing following.

Just thought the opinion of a successful box office analyst who broke important news for Sonic 3 was interesting.

Especially when he's been doing this for 20 years and is rarely wrong about where a movie might land after it's been in theatre's for over 3 weeks and it's Christmas legs are about to evaporate as kids are going back to school and it's becoming too cold to go out except for movies that people consider to be expectational.

Maybe it will beat Sonic 2 but I still think a major bump like 500 or even 600 million is off the table.

Especially if Mufasa and Sonic opened at the same time and one of them from the company certain people said was "at a low point" (with the three highest grossing movies last year) that started below Sonic 3 is now far ahead of it. At Mufasa's current trajectory barely crossing 600 is where many predict that film will end up. Wonder how the blue blur fairs under those circumstances.

I am just gonna assume you mean the switch port, which, you know, switch gonna be switching, but on PS5 and PC it is polished with 60 stable FPS on BOTH games and i don't recall anyone having any issues or glitches with Shadow, so honestly, yeah they polished.

Yeah, performance was buttery smooth playing the PC version on my part, as well, with both sides of the game and I think I actually didn't have a single glitch happen throughout my entire Shadow Gens playthrough, which really impressed me.

(There were a couple in the Sonic portion, but also a very polished game compared to some others.)

If you use Quality Mode on PS5/Xbox Series X you also get bad frame pacing. On PC, you get stutters if your monitor's refresh rate isn't 60Hz.

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/timlam...dgehog-3-gets-digital-streaming-release-date/

Forbes is saying the movie is going to hit video on demand services on January 21st, according to whentostream, which is accurate 90% of the time.

This usually doesn't hurt the box office run of a movie almost done with its run so it's no big deal. Just something to note for people who want to watch it again at home or don't enjoy going out to the theatres.

I will definitely want to watch it in English, I hate dubs and I'm sure I lost many jokes and many references, but once again I didn't have a choice since I didn't go to the cinema alone, and my friend isn't fluent in English.

Not that there are many cinemas which air movies in English around here anyway.

So I'm reading the Sonic the Hedgehog 2: The Official Movie Pre-Quill, decided to see if I can spot any dates and assemble a rough timeline of events for kicks, and I've just realised The Buyer was mentioned in it. I thought it was referring to Agent Stone at the time since he appears soon after so never took note of it, but I guess he noticed the Egg Drones and hijacked the operation away from The Buyer instead.

Actually pretty neat, minor enemy civil war going on in Robotnik's absence.

These are two different figures - According to https://www.the-numbers.com/box-office-records/domestic/all-movies/sources/based-on-game, Sonic 3 is guaranteed to land at #2 of all time Domestic (The Super Mario Movie leads by $~350M), barring some sort of miracle resurgence that keeps in in theaters for months ala Titanic in 1997.

Worldwide (https://www.the-numbers.com/box-office-records/worldwide/all-movies/sources/based-on-game and the link you provided), Sonic 3 is about $100M off from #2 - I'm not certain it's got legs long enough to do that. Sonic 2 topped out at around $400M worldwide, and I would expect this to come out pretty similarly under normal circumstances, but Mufasa is eating Sonic 3's lunch internationally.

I actually think it's pretty remarkable that Sonic continues to stay very close to even with Mufasa on a financial performance basis and is still ahead in domestic gross by about $20M. The John Campea video above strikes me as myopic considering Sonic 3 hasn't started some sort of massive decline that shows that the audience has clearly chosen Mufasa - it looks more to me like Sonic 3 bit off a good chunk of Mufasa's market share.

John Campea has been wrong on several occasions so I wouldn't take his word seriously. Especially when he's arrogant about his beliefs.

All the rags keep propping up Mufasa as absolutely dominating the market domestically, but its only been getting small leads of a 1-2 million over Sonic. Like you mentioned, Sonic is still leading by about $20m. They're both pretty neck and neck on the weekends and they're both going to get their legs crippled once the break is over. Mufasa does have far more impressive holds than Sonic though so in the long run it could overtake Sonic domestically. Internationally, Sonic 3 isn't doing too bad either. It's not that far behind in grosses in most markets (on the same weekend). Mufasa did get that early release lead and Sonic came out at the tail end and it didn't open in every market. I don't think it has a chance of getting close to Mufasa's international numbers at all, but like I mentioned before, the markets that it opened in saw a significant increase when compared to Sonic 2's. Getting past Sonic 2 is guaranteed.

I think Disney would have had better luck if they pushed Mufasa later into March and moved Snow White out of the way. Not just because of Sonic, but because they were also competing with themselves. Moana 2 is still holding extremely well, but they also had competition from Wicked. Combined that with Sonic 3 and family audiences had multiple options to choose from.

What irks me more, of all this situation, is the fact Mufasa got selected for the oscars...but Sonic 3 seems ineligible for it :argh:
