The Disney poorly achieved live actions aren't going to ruin Sonic 3.

There aren't a lot of Lion King fans anymore (I hope not).

Lion King was a ripoff of an anime anyway.

Frankly I doubt it and they're just banking on the fact that the target audience doesn't have the capacity to hold onto details for 4 years like us, or the fact that the target audience wasn't even sentient 4 years ago. :V

Wait, is the whole Mufasa vs Sonic 3 thing not just a big joke? Surely no single person is genuinely emotionally invested in the box office take of a film right?

Anyway, here's a Jim Carey Featurette about playing Gerald. Keanu Reeves call him a genius.

You should never show any interest in anything because someone out there might think it's silly.

If we're doing those kinds of takes, then it's no more of a "big joke" than over 600 pages of discussion about Sonic movies on a fairly niche Sonic fansite.

Anyways, it looks like the numbers are starting to ramp up (called it). I hope it can really break out. There's a lot of room for growth still when it comes to Sonic on the big screen.

That's not what I'm saying. But wanting one film to do better than another at the Box Office (rather than on the ratings or something that actually indicates quality) is what seems silly to me. Is it like a sports thing? Go my team?

For fans, ratings may matter most.
    For filmmakers, box offices matter.
May dictate future jobs or sequels.
One can't only see one way or the other...

I can only speak for myself, but I'd say it's mostly about really hating Disney's remake model and Lion King 2019 in particular being the highest-grossing animated film of all time, which it absolutely does not deserve in any way. Any losses on their part feel worth cheering on.

Since I didn't see or pay much heed to any of the latest remakes, I know little about them.
I know one film or another generated controversy, but not much else.
Still, I want Sonic 3 to do well or awesomely, so as to guarantee further sequels.
I could even see the next mini-series being about Shadow (sans Black Arms xD).

Yeah, I'm really tired of all the lackluster nostalgiabait and sequels Disney has been pumping out in recent years. As bizarre as it is to say, a movie based on old Sonic games looks like it's doing more of its own thing with the plot while still being recognizably Sonic yet still fun for anyone outside of the fanbase. I can't believe I'm holding that up as a bar, but that's where we're at right now.

It's not the highest grossing animated movie of all time. Inside out 2 is. So what is your ultimate point?

Have we been watching the same films? I love the sonic movies but they're very much Paramount family films that happen to have Sonic lore in them. Or we wouldn't be getting things like the 10 minute wedding subplot with Randall with an extended vagina waxing joke.

Disney live action movies might have become hit or miss and the Sonic movies are fun but I wouldn't be calling them the savior of cinema or anything. Especially when a lot of films with true old school Hollywood artistry such as Dune 2, Alien Romulus, and Wicked still come out and have high success .

Oh no, my information was a few months out of date. Tragic.
Nobody did call them that. Do you think this is a conversation about how perfect and flawless the Sonic movies are? Because it isn't. It's literally just that they have signs of life compared to the narrative TV-static that is Disney's live action output, and at least Sonic isn't tarnishing actual amazing source material with his movies.
Literally the second sentence of the thing you quoted, bud.

It's not the highest grossing animated movie of all time , so everything you typed paragraphs about is invalid.

Go enjoy your Vagina waxing jokes man. I'll be seeing the movie but I'll be treating them as what they are. Fun family films.

Because its hilarious to see you say how you can't wait for the prequel to the...second...highest animated grossing movie of all time does worse than the Sonic films which apparently are so much less corporate.

Sonic movies that have product placement all through the movie. The olive garden GUN agent being the biggest I can think of.

Do you genuinely believe a movie with an Uptown Funk scene, Little Ceaser's references, Amazon package cameos, is somehow less corporate or less Hollywood money driven than the Lion King movies?

You can complain all you want about Mufasa but Sonic clearly has the same greed in its DNA, even with a director and producer who make sure the product feels like Sonic, and it shows in all the product placement and things like the Wedding subplot which are clearly not done for the fans.

I've only talked about box office numbers in terms of how interesting it is to see what kind of movies people are interested in seeing. I will never root for the success of billion dollar companies, that I have no stock investment in, just for the sake of it.

You could have been informative about the Inside Out 2 information instead of being a dick and triggering this back and forth.

They really just doubled Jim and said "go at it"...

Not exactly game canon, but IDC. He still has it.

That's all I did. That person chose to respond to something I said to someone else, so I added it to my argument with them as they wanted.

I'll admit the joke about waxing wasn't needed but I'm still curious how this movie, with all its product placement, is somehow less corporate than Mufasa and I asked that with sincerity.
