    Disney can definitely have flops. But very rarely is it one of their franchise releases.

    This is what I've been saying. Metal Sonic as the Terminator and Silver believing "Sonic" destroys the future because it's actually his robot double. Amy takes the role of Elise, solving both the problem of weird human/furry relationships (by not being human, obviously) and the princess being a plank of wood (by coming out of her shell thanks to Sonic and being her usual energetic self). Plus, if this were the last one...movie Sonic is the version I'd feel most comfortable seeing actually reciprocate Amy's advances, at least after Sonic X dropped that like a rock.

    They also have a "collect all 7 chaos emeralds" MacGuffin plot they could use any time - Sonic 2 had a small scale version with the race to the Master Emerald. Something loosely based around SA1 / Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame where the team splits up and you have a lot of smaller setpieces with less characters leading to a big conclusion where everyone is united.

    Looks cool. Getting half a Death Egg.

    Got some info on the show split between Sonic and Mufasa. It's so over. We're cooked.

    Mufasa is cooking us because of that aura-less ARK.

    I liked Ark looks a fusion with Death Egg. It looks cool and somehow consistent with Movie Death Egg Robot design.

    Feels unreal that the movie's now only 2 weeks away. Was almost like yesterday since I came out of Sonic 2 and walked halfway from downtown to home because I comically could not catch a bus for the life of me.

    Thoughts and prayers go out to all the movie theater staff. Two $60-$70m FAMILY movies in the same holiday weekend. They're fucked. Thank God they didn't throw in a raunchy White Girl comedy.

    What's impressive if the predictions hold true is that Sonic 3 would be outgrossing Mufasa, despite Mufasa having over 40% of the showtimes so far. That's including IMAX, 3D, and other PLF screens which have higher ticket prices that would give it a considerable lead in dollars over Sonic. These are just forecast based on pre-sales though so the pendulum could swing the other way once release day hits. Still, win or lose the #1 rank, Sonic is putting up a hell of a fight.

    Actually, I wanna check something. You folks able to preview seats for both Mufasa and Sonic 3? I think my theatre is giving the movie the short end of the stick by stuffing S3 into the smallest spaces. Curiosity is killing me, so I want to compare with everyone else. :V

    They are

    One of the biggest locations in LA has 11 shows dedicated to Mufasa. Only 5 for Sonic. All the big houses are for Mufasa. I'm not pulling that 40% out of my ass. I can see the numbers. These are just shows they put up to satisfy the pre-sale requirements. Fully fleshed out schedules don't occur until the week before.

    Looking at the actual pre-sales though, Mufasa shows are empty. Sonic has 2 sold out shows. At least for this location.

    Currently comparing both opening days where I'm at. It's not looking good seats-wise for either film, but I'm tempted to chalk that up to the films being both a week away from Christmas and local cinemas generally underperforming... But even then, Mufasa is in hot water. There was at least one seat taken per theatre, both minimum and maximum, while showings for Sonic 3 already have at least five to a dozen spaces filled. We're probably gonna have better judgement closer to release date, but oh man are the differences stark so far. Even high profile theatres are showing close to the same ratio, if inflated a bit ^^;;

    I really see Mufasa being a walk in heavy film. Sonic fanbase is on average younger and more tech informed, so they're more likely to pre order tickets.

    Mufasa audience is a little older and mainstream so they will wait until the day or, or at least closer to the release date, before they decide to watch it or not.

    Again we'll have to wait and see but I feel that's worth accounting for.

    I just remembered that Robotnik calls himself an orphan at the beginning of the first movie, I wonder if this is going to be addressed in some way now that Gerald is apparently thrown in the mix.
