Sonic the Hedgehog Cinematic Universe Thread (& Knuckles)

We're gonna get some pre-sales data for some real projections instead of going off pure vibes.

 

I can confirm that EW still featuring Eggman, Shadow, Stone, and Gerald was edited for the magazine. I have obtained the real still from a top-secret source, one whose identity is so secret even I don't know their real name. Colossal spoilers in the spoiler below.

Jeez, only like a month-ish to go.

Also, there's now a theater ad with Sonic and pals riding ye olde concession roller coaster.

Are any of these any good though?

 

Is that a problem?

 

Arcane is pretty great, Fallout is good, Tomb Raider is just there not really good or bad, and Yakuza to me is more bad than good.

But honestly I think Arcane is just going to blow the others out of the water.

I'm not the biggest fan of the characters, and I do think that if they continue to make movies that Sonic and co. should eventually leave Green Hills and the Wachowskis, but I do find it interesting that they disappeared from the first wave of marketing material while in the past they kept them here and there. I'm assuming that they'll make another ensemble poster with them, Krysten Rytter, Alyla Browne, and Lee Majdoub.

Hope they give Maddie something more to do in this movie, Tika Sumpter is a really great actress so it's a shame they just have her as "mom role" in these movies.

 

Yes, Arcane is superb animated series and the Fallout series ended begin way better than I thought. I have yet to see Yakuza.

 

So it was just slim pickin's and Knuckles needed a spot by default. Lol

Tomb Raider too. Watching that was a bit of a ordeal...

 

I thought that Arcane was good, although as a person who's never played League of Legends, I was often left feeling that the show didn't give enough context on certain narrative elements.

I found Fallout absolutely brilliant, though my perspective might be a bit skewed as a person who's put hundreds of hours into the games. Now that I think of it, it probably suffers from the "Play the games to understand what's going on" -syndrome even worse than Arcane, but I was just too much of a fan to notice.

I've yet to see Tomb Raider, but it does look like something that'd appeal to me, and I honestly couldn't give less of a shit about LAD.

 

Knuckles is just there because they needed to fill a spot. It's either going to be Arcane or Fallout. The general consensus on the Tomb Raider series is that it exists and Knuckles and Yakuza were both extremely divisive.

 

Fallout is definitely winning this.

 

Ah fuck i was actually really curious about Yakuza and completely forgot it was already out. Guess i'll go into it expecting nothing amazing but thats disappointing, not that i had huge hopes or anything

It certainly didn’t faithfully and authentically adapt the games, but I’m not gonna lie, I had a ton of fun watching Knuckles.

 

Some fans of the games are saying that it's a lousy video game adaptation but a decent crime drama...

...but fans of crime dramas are saying that it's not good at that either.

 

it's not amazing or anything but as a fan of the series, i had fun watching all the differences they made in plot, and some for the better like actually giving focus to Yumi and Nishiki's sister, something the first game didn't bother to do despite how crucial they are to the characters -and was disappointed that Yakuza 0 didn't give them any focus whatsoever-

That aside, despite sharing the basic premise of Yakuza 1 it's wildly different story, they had the gall to end it on a cliffhanger too, but the implications can make for a wildly different season 2 -if there is even any-

it should had more Majima tho, he is like the only character who was really accurate to the games and gave levity similar to the games, and he only had one really lengthy scene in one episode and basically disappeared afterwards
