I can’t get enough of the trailer music, and this seems to be legit:

This is the most "Make a dramatic orchestral trailer theme for a Sonic movie" sounding thing ever. A lot of boring generic orchestral suddenly broken up by 7 notes of Green Hill and 3 notes of Live and Learn

The vast majority of the piece is using multiple aspects from Green Hill Zone's theme; for example, the strings that come in at 0:40 are playing the intro riff, and at 1:15 they're playing the countermelody.

You might only notice 7 notes of Green Hill come in at 1:33, but you've already been listening to Green Hill playing for more than a minute at that point.

I actually liked the music, but yeah, I want more stylezed songs for the movie score.

In polish dub of the trailer, Gerald says „Come here, hug Your daddy”.

Not a fan of this change…
but still looking forward to Jim Carrey playing them both.

It's the only dub so far (that I've heard) where Gerald is the only one that identifies himself.

Still, I think it's pretty clear he's a grand father based on all the other dubs/subs, that and pop pop is just slang for grandpa. For the Taiwan upload, there is like a million God damn ways to say grand father, but 阿公 (ah gung) would be one way of saying maternal grand father.

Canon Gerald had two sons, so Eggman's father would be the one that makes them related. I'd actually assumed they worked that hyper specific factoid that never came up before while developing the movie, because it's been expressed at least two times leading into the marketing for Sonic X Shadow Generations.

Has enough time passed to where I can say I don't think this is a very good trailer? Or is my depression and disappointment in Shadow casting and potential narrative choices involving Gerald clouding my judgement? I got more excited for Kraven the Hunter in a single watch of its new trailer than I did this in all of my watches.

They should adapt Mama Robotnik from AoStH and have her be played by Jim Carrey as well.

    Another collaboration with Johnny Gioeli:

Cool new song! May be my favourite so far!

Disclaimer! Most likely won't be in the movie.

Johnny is very hit and miss with me, but that's true with any music artist (though Kellin Quinn was a slam dunk on every Frontiers song IMO). I hope and pray he's singing Live and Learn in Sonic 3. I've seen things that point towards that happening, beyond Live and Learn being a common melody played in marketing thus far.

I'm pretty sure I've said it more than 10 times (and sorry for that) but if Live & Learn will be relly used in Sonic 3 (not as credit song) I will forgive for every lack of video-game soundtrack on score.

Having Escape From the City would be neat too, tho'. But the way Johnny have keepin' saying on Twitter, there's might at least 50% of chances of it really begin on the movie. Edit: To be clear, I was talking about Live & Learn, not Escape From the City.

I replayed Sonic Adventure 2 this weekend and honestly, I'm glad the movies are choosing to go in a different direction with the story.

Not because I don't think SA2's story is great or anything, that's exactly why. They went out of their way to try and make something truly cinematic with that game and I feel if they tried to copy it too closely, people would be more nitpicky towards any changes and additions.

Movie 3 being it's own thing is a great decision and I can't wait to see what the differences add to the story. And if I end up still preferring SA2, well it's still there.

Yeah, the movie doesn't need to copypaste Sonic Adventure 2 cutscenes to be faithful to the games. I think it was a good choice to take the game elements and inspirations and do its own thing with it.

I also think adapting Modern material works better than Classic for live action, so I think it will make things really interesting.

I'm surprised this interview isn't trending in the Sonic fandom currently. This is an interview with a writer of the Sonic movie series. Basically, it appears, if there are moments that we dislike, such as too many humans, wedding scenes, too much alteration of Shadow's history, etc. The blame can be placed on the publishers.

He talks about how there was push back on the giant egg machine Eggman built at end of Sonic 2, how Sony wanted Sonic to have a human friend in Sonic 1, Sony did not want badniks to have animals inside, etc. It appears to boil down to publishers having no prior knowledge of the IPs that they deal with (from my perspective of watching this).

I watched it. It’s cool to know Jim Carrey is really into playing Robotnik.

Like I said before I’m in the minority but I like them hanging out with human friends. I think their focus is exaggerated by a lot of people. The wedding scene was what...like 5-10 minutes if you count Maddie and Rachel getting passed the guards.

I would have liked to see the flickies inside the robots too but I’m not that bothered by it. Having Robotnik capture a bunch of animals to power his machines would been more complicated. Then there’s a bunch of little animals popping out during battle.

Trapping some in a capsule that Sonic has to open would fit better. Like a rescue mission.

From my view, Tom worked fine in 1 because he was involved with Sonic's journey from the start and was actively participating in it. In Sonic 2, he and the rest of the cast are shoved to the side for a b-story that has little to do with the film we've been following. They then awkwardly intertwined them and we restart the original film after a lengthy cooling off period. It's just a bad pace breaker.

Honestly the Sonic movie series' handling of humans is much better than a lot of live action meets animated character movies. One of the biggest fears running up to the original's reveal aside from Sonic's design was the concern that humans would take up the majority of the run time to cheap out on animation, like in the live action Pink Panther, and that thankfully didn't happen. So I can stand 5 to 10 minutes of human content when the rest of the 110 minutes is taken up by Sonic and co. Sure it's a bit awkward as a solid chunk of runtime, but so much of Sonic 2 is also just animated character action it's just a blip in the rest of what's going on.
