I gave examples of trailers coming out 5 months before the movie.

Can you give me any Non MCU or DCU examples of an entire marketing campaign not starting until 4 months before release? Jurassic World 3 didn't. Fantastic Beasts 3 didn't. Creed 3 didn't. Those are all pretty big franchises too.

The only example I can think of when it comes to a movie coming out close to the release of the trailer is the FAMOUS UNDERPERFORMER BY PARAMOUNT (which is a nice way of saying bomb because I like the movie) : Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning.

Dead Reckoning had its trailer 3 months before release. And underperformed massively due to its release windows (so much for "doing the numbers" and not seeing that Barbie and Oppenheimer would kill your movie dead in its tracks) due to how Paramount chose to roll it out. So...

Anyways this isn't normal, most companies don't do this, and Mufasa is a genuine reason to be questioning its release date.

If we get a trailer with the same release date, cool, I just brought it up as a possible reason without ever acting like I "knew the facts".

John Wick 4's trailer was November 2022 and that movie released in March 2023. That is 4 months. Not sure why you would bring up something that clearly undermines your argument.

Okay so you managed to find one thing I said wrong and had no way to refute anything else I mentioned. I'll easily find another example.

Creed 3s first trailer was in October and it's release was in March 2023. That's another 5 months example.

Actually for your sake I'll just edit the Creed 3 example into my original post.

So replace John Wick 4 with Creed 3 then refute the rest of my points. BTW you started this when you chose to say I was "talking like I had facts" instead of saying nothing at all because I never did.

Honestly I find it hard to really decouple this film's marketing from the broader "Fearless Year of Shadow" campaign, including the Sonic X Shadow Generations which ultimately only exists as a primer and supplement for "the new Shadow movie".

You keep shifting your goal posts. It's crazy. You're what the kids call "delulu". Multiple people have told you this is normal for movie marketing but you have so far stuck your fingers in your ears and refused to listen and just keep posting how it must be because of Mufasa. You want me to refute you, but all you do is shift the goal post, bring up a whataboutism, or some other equally asinine thing.

You also were acting like you had all the facts. But you're wrong.

It's not normal for marketing to happen in this way. I gave multiple examples of big films that did not have marketing like this. I made sure no example I gave was older than 2 years ago. And you were unable to refute all but one which I easily edited and corrected.

Multiple people saying an untrue fact doesn't make it true. You're the delusional one.

I ask again to post where I said or acted like I had the facts in my initial post and instead you decided to make this projection paragraph.

How about just not respond to people to be a jerk then get mad when they respond back?

Damn. We got Donald Trump in the thread telling us about "fake news"?

I'm not even upset, but you are shifting goal posts and refusing to listen to anyone who tells you differently than your view.

I'm going to ask you again to give me an example of another major Hollywood picture that started promotional material 4 months out. A new poster counts as promotional material and most movies get those 6 to 8 months out. Sonic 3 doesn't even have that. I gave you one from Paramount that bombed hard.

You have yet to do so. If it's the normal way of doing things why can't you find me dozens of examples? BTW MCU and DCU don't count because how integrated those characters are into pop culture and popular movies. Even Harry Potter and Mario aren't that cocky.

You're just incapable of admitting you're wrong and play victim when you antagonized me first.

Don't respond to me again without the information I requested.

    What counts as "marketing"?

Do these not count as marketing? (I'd post the figures too, but I don't know if those were simply leaks or not)

Using old art to market a new thing is still marketing a new thing. We can say it's marketing the new thing poorly if we want, but it's still marketing the new thing.

I've never seen a major Hollywood movie have 0 new promotional art 4 months before it came out. It's still unusual.

I don't see how nitpicking what I said changes that it's not a normal roll out or how it changes all my other much more major points of how this isn't regular.

I'll just edit that out and the rest is still true. Better?

Yeah. I'm gonna be an idiot and buy the 4 pack for Knuckles instead of patiently waiting for Wave 2.

I don't think it's nitpicking to point out that something you said wasn't true. Just think more carefully about your posts and say what you mean.

I think it would make more sense to say "oh, I should have phrased it like this instead" than to make it look like you didn't say something that wasn't true; the latter makes the conversation weird both to engage in and read. But you do you!

There was only one poster before the trailer and it dropped the day before. Unless you count the picture of Knuckles' fist that Idris posted.

I meant we got a trailer 5 months before Sonic Movie 2 came out. I'd say for a Non MCU or DC movie that's fairly normal.

It wasn't to say the movie might have problems or that production wasn't going fine, it's just a unique choice from my experiences in following this subject.

But the Movie 2 trailer came out 4 months to the day before the movie came out, right? That's what my attached image was for. Unless I'm missing something.
Movie 1's Final trailer came out 5 months to the day before movie 1 came out, but that was only possible because other than the redesign so much of the movie had been completed. It is worth reminding people that there was a 3 months strike that occurred right in the middle of filming.
