I don't have a lot of time, so I'll keep this brief. Dean Sitton (posting as DeanSatan), a former employee of SOA, and the guy who came up with the name "Ivo Robotnik", popped onto this forum awhile back. See this thread for details.

Dean had a variety of documents from his time at Sega, a number of them related to Sonic, including several versions of something called the "Sonic Bible". I bought them. They arrived today. I've started scanning them.

The Sonic Bible was an internal document created by SOA to provide a localised history and overall philosophy for Sonic and the Sonic universe. It is apparently not based on the Japanese history. According to Dean: "the bible was developed at soa in-tune with getting the game from soj - there was little to no exposure to the original japanese fiction at that time".

Enough blabbing from me. Here are the documents I've scanned in so far, in PDF form:
    http://nemesis.hacking-cult.org/MegaDrive/.../SonicBible.pdf
    http://nemesis.hacking-cult.org/MegaDrive/...BibleDraft1.pdf
    http://nemesis.hacking-cult.org/MegaDrive/...BibleDraft2.pdf

And here are the source images:
    http://nemesis.hacking-cult.org/MegaDrive/.../SonicBible.zip
    http://nemesis.hacking-cult.org/MegaDrive/...BibleDraft1.zip
    http://nemesis.hacking-cult.org/MegaDrive/...BibleDraft2.zip

I'm not sure about the correct names for these documents. Best as I can tell, I've listed them in order from oldest to newest. Some of the documents are missing some sections. What you're looking at is what I've got. More cool stuff coming soon.

    These are incredibly interesting reads.

I miss the days when Sega actually cared about Sonic. >_<

Interesting reads. They seem to be more in tune with Sonic the comic's origin then what America is used to.

    This is awesome.
The info on Sonic personality and on likes and dislikes had a lot of things I didn't know. He likes chocolate too. I wonder if Unleashed team knows this things.

EDIT: And Robotnik created the red sneakers!!

I've remembered reading about a famed "Sonic Bible" and how it was rumored that it was official documentation, but this is the real deal! Thanks!

No, I am not working on any hack, fanart, or website.
Very interesting. I only read the first part though because I have homework to do :colbert:.

Hm, interesting. It's almost entirely wrong when compared to the original SoJ story, but very interesting and even charming nonetheless; the beginning part reminded me of that old animated movie with mice (forgot the title). It's strange to see all those parallels with North American and European media of the time, and it certainly explains a lot.

So, Sonic escapes Robotnik in Scrap Brain Zone all the way to Green Hill Zone, only to decide that he has to go back and stop him?

Obviously Hardly, Nebraska is circular shaped. How else do you explain sonic running from Scrap Brain zone to Green Hill Zone in the ending?

I don't think most people would have taken kindly to all the Sonic Unleashed Sonic sections taking up less than a second.

Good try, but nope, not that one. Older than that, I believe. It was about the mother of a small family of mice whose father vanished, and there was magic or technology involved. I think most of the movie took place in tunnels or something.

Now this is interesting, the monitors are really pc's (no surprise, they look like pc's) and just thinking about it they must be from robotnik since the rings were used to power his machines in the lab.

Also the grey emerald, is this a 7th one they never used in the game? since it keeps mentioning 6 chaos emeralds (which store negative energy) and a 7th to be found.

The rings are ATM rings, from the AMAZING TRANSFORMING MACHINE, haha awesome.

So Green Hill Zone is in Nebraska?!? And I guess now we know that Sonic is a West European Hedgehog, that's helpful.

Would poor eyesight explain Sonic 2 GG?

I find it a little amusing that the "final" Bible actually ditched the "Mobius" concept entirely, despite all the other forms of media running with it for quite a while.

I find it even more amusing that they arbitrarily chose Nebraska instead of coming up with their own little island (eg: South Island).
