Sonic Superstars: A New 2D Sonic Game (Fall 2023)

I dunno if it's been discussed already, but I just noticed that at 00:03 in the LEGO DLC trailer, a spring pops up from the ground when Sonic is midway through the loop, which makes it harder for you to go back

Well, I certainly hope it will have more variation than Mania OST (I love Mania OST by the way, just saying).

 

Lopes' best works are his remixes from the 8-bit games. That shit hits different.

 

This game was the true test of friendship. Rope dropping assholes...

nice! I think this has quickly become one of my favourite 2D animated intro sequences.

 

Beautiful animation! And the arrangement of the music is substantially better than Senoue’s keyboard sounds on Sonic 4. This made my day

 

Yeah, I can totally get behind synth as another instrument in the tool kit rather than being the driving force of the OST here, and you know that had to be Jun on guitar. Once again, my confidence in the game has gone up.

 

My heart is very happy with that super fusion-y synth + Jun's guitar. Hope we get another look at the game soon.

 

This game can't possibly get any more perfect, can it? Holy crap.

I like the animation, but not the music. Can't say much else, really, except that I'm very excited for the game.

 

The animation ain't fantastic, but it's the best Sonic has had in quite the nice while.
The music ain't anything special as well, but Lopes + Senoue might make wonders.
This game's shaping up to become something nice, gotta hope it turns out so... ^^

 

Music is cool, but nothing to fawn over. It sounds nice.

The animation though its gorgeous. I adore the use of lighting and shading going on in it. There's not hardly a flat colour in sight. Everything is so detailed. And the way that the light is casting something of a bloom effect across everything really brings it all together. It's really nice having had all of these animations over the years.

Mania's pre-order trailer and intro were derivative of CD, but that's not to say that they were lacking in their own style and flair. The style evolved over the course of Mania Adventures, Chao in Space, TSR Overdrive, Frontiers Prologue and now Superstars. It's so great to look back on.

If I had to criticise it... The intro itself isn't very interesting. It's just a pretty standard series of events. I'd have really loved the intro to actually be the opening cutscene of the game, rather than a non-description showcase of the characters running through a location or two.

 

Animation is very nice. I hope in game it plays 4k, that really made the Origins cutscenes POP.

 

Music is good. Animation is fantastic.

Bring it on.
