Sonic Superstars: A New 2D Sonic Game (Fall 2023)

I like this, looks like they seem to be aiming for the more visually abstract side of the series in the vein of CD and Chaotix. Excited to see more, and 12 zones is a perfect amount if they have the content and variety to back it up

Now I wish they called this game Sonic Studium

So that's definitely a Tee Lopes composition in the trailer, we have 12 zones confirmed (I'm gonna be optimistic and say that's at least 20 full acts)...things are looking good!

I mean, that new level doesn't, the visuals are so spartan it basically just had a solid blue backdrop, but I'm guessing that's partially the Switch

 

Yeah, the timing of a new 2D Mario is a real ding on buying priorities depending on what we learn by Superstars launch. For me, at least.

It reminds of the abstract nature of Dessert Ruins (Desert Ruins Act 3) in Sonic Lost World. Very pleasant.

I like how Tails can carry you in this game. I hope the others have some co-op ability moves like riding Knuckles.

The logo looks like they're going for a subtle grit at the surrounding border. I don't see the problem with his shoe. Can you elaborate?

 

They do seem to have masked the grass from Sonic's shoe then moved him to the right afterwards.

 

The blades of grass obscuring his shoe look more like grass blade shapes cut out of the Sonic artwork (@Lapper 's note above makes sense, you can tell the placement isn't quite right), and the grainy, pixelated border around the logo looks like someone who just opened Photoshop for the first time found the dissolve stroke effect.

Also, is it just me, or do Sonic's hands look unusually tiny?

This seems more like fanart, or maybe someone got ahold of some official renders/assets and slapped them together to make this.

Wow after watching that clip again I am not worried about the music in the slightest. It's not Sonic 4 classic Sonic "genesis" music. This is some beautiful shit.

Every new piece of information we get about this game makes me more and more excited for it. Still doesn't feel real.

The music in the trailer sounded really good, definitely like Tee Lopes had a hand in it somewhere, so my fears about the game are pretty much gone in every aspect which is an amazing feeling
