Yeah this is...really ugly. Almost looks like some kind of joke on Shadow fans who I imagine were the only ones excited for this.

My point still stands. I actually kinda like the idea of Sonic disguising as Shadow for something like this but it needs to be an actual disguise.

From the announcement tweet, "Step into the intensity, mystery and ultimate footie-pajamas..." really popped me. Props to whoever wrote that!

You say that like GUN could tell the difference between them without any outfits...

I mean, that outfit is probably literally what a gun officer who gave the order to arrest sonic thought they saw; sonic in a black nighty trying to be crafty and stealthy.

kinda disappointed he doesn't do Shadow's skating animation lol. I might use this as an excuse to finally finish the game (I got to the last boss of Trip's story and ragequit)

  12. Wouldn't that cause a time paradox?

    creating the biggest sonic collection
So I finally beat Sonic Superstars (haven't beating Trip's story or the final story yet) and I did not come here expecting to see so much negativity. I enjoyed the game quite a bit. Yes the bosses suck (especially in Trip's story), but otherwise I thought the game was great.

All anyone really asked for was a classic sonic physics engine and good level design, and I think Superstars did both of those pretty well. I dislike the bosses because it feels very much like "wait for it, wait for it, now you're allowed to hit me. But only once." If you play well you should be able to hit the bosses whenever you like, but this game often will just turn the "hitability" function off so even if you manage to hit him in the weak spot, but it's the wrong time, you just kinda float gently down to the ground.

But other than that, this game is great. I disagree with the notion that the music is bad. It is so much better than the Sonic 4 music we were afraid of. The boss theme is great and I enjoyed the rest of the music.

    Some random RPG project.
Yeah, weird they went with this. I get that it's free, but it really would've looked better to just go full Shadow skin akin to the rabbit skin. It's non-canon either way.

I'm glad they didn't create an actual Classic Shadow. That would make no sense since simply there has never been a Classic Shadow. He was born Modern.

It's a non-canon fun little piece of DLC, does that really matter? Might as well go all the way, as Sanic merchandise and Sonic the Rabbit aren't canon either (at least I hope so in the case of the former).

Sure but there's nothing preventing that rabbit from actually existing. Same goes for the Sanic shirt. But Classic Shadow as a character doesn't exist.

Shadow's design doesn't work with the classic artstyle imo

Still unbelievably hilarious that they made a Shadow costume of all things tho

Classic Shadow won't just be a fun little piece of DLC, it'll be the validation of thousands who genuinely want Modern characters in Classic games.

If Shadow can be Classic, then he'd have to have a classic design, which is incredibly difficult to think about since he was practically made exactly when Sonic eschewed its Classic roots in its art style.

If Shadow can be Classic, he'd also play meaningfully different from Sonic and co. in a gameplay style he was never designed for. I think Forces is the only time he's ever been in 2D.

If Shadow can be Classic, then so can Rouge and Cream and Blaze and Silver.

Lore, canon, style, etc. are just excuses. The real reason is because they just don't want to do it. They don't want to do it because then it would come with expectation of having to keep doing it. Because there's no way anyone would be satisfied with something like Classic Shadow only ever being DLC for one game.

Classic Sonic is Classic Sonic, which is pretty well defined. It explicitly does not include characters like Shadow.

I'm okay with no Classic Shadow. I don't particularly care either way, but I do appreciate when Sega actually defines what they would or won't do. The Shadow mandates, in practice, were dumb and limiting, but the idea that Sega has an idea of who Shadow is, what he would do, and where he should and shouldn't be isn't an issue. And if they DO do a "Classic Shadow", it should be with their whole heart. No half-measures. I want a whole storyline about it.
