Sonic Superstars: A New 2D Sonic Game (Fall 2023)

I imagine if the rewards program is ending then that might mean those skins might finally be available to everyone.

 

Just got a 211.3MB download queued for Steam. No patch notes pushed to me on steam yet though.

What the fuck is up with this PC update? I feel like I’m back in the late 90s waiting hours to download a 16 MB game demo over dialup! My laptop is old, but it can handle the damn internet!

I'm surprised nothing has really leaked or been announced about what Shadow is going to look like in Superstars, considering the Superstars update is literally coming out tomorrow...

 

What the hell. I haven't seen Metal Goo Ja Zu. I picked up the Shadow one though. That one is sick.

 

I don't think that's "classic" Shadow as much as it is just conforming to the format of the toyline. At the bottom of the second image you can see the whole line on the packaging, with what looks to be Amy, Eggman and Rouge. It's difficult to discern much of anything given the low image quality, but Eggman seems to have a white stripe going across his torso that'd suggest his modern design jacket.

At any rate, I think perhaps Sonic fans see "Classic Shadow" as concept as being much more significant than it really is. All it's going to be is the same Shadow design, but fitting the classic proportions and with the irises removed, simply because that's consistent with the classic artstyle - it's just a way of interpreting design.

 

If you look at the new Shadow Goo Jit Zu's face, it's a lot more rounder and classic-like than the original.


Also, all the modern designs have been relegated to the Goo Jit Zu minis line. Since the new Shadow is full sized, it's a new classic design.

 

Those minis all have no irises and stocky bodies. I really fail to see how they're any more or less modern than the full size figures.

 

I'm pretty sure it's just to fit the current molding like Starduster mentioned. The full size ones have completely redesigned packaging that removes the "Classic" branding the the old releases had.

 

How is this stretchy Sonic toy anything but the Werehog? I know it wasn't exactly beloved, but c'mon.

Classic Sonic thought Shadow was so cool he immediately commissioned a costume. Based C.Sonic.

 

It's adorable, I love it. Sonic looks like a cute lil baby on Halloween and the costume looks stupid just like the character of shadow bahahahahahhahaha

I mean... It's kind of cute and novel? But I don't like it. They really should have just put out a full-on Classic Shadow skin, rather than making Sonic wear Shadow's skin instead.
