Sonic Superstars: A New 2D Sonic Game (Fall 2023)

This is sort of the mindset I'm in currently - I'm excited for the game's release, but at the same time I'm not going in expecting something on the same level as Sonic Mania Plus or Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It still looks like it'll be a pretty solid classic-styled entry from what I've seen so far, so I'm looking forward to giving it a try for myself - and if it turns out to be better than I'm expecting then that'll be a nice surprise. = )

 

Yes especially if and when the next 3D open zone Sonic is going to be a multi character one, it will take a few years to complete if not several, so Superstars is the best possible foundation for a series of excellent games in this format for which the possibilities are basically endless.

 

There’s something about avoiding the hype that actually makes the experience more enjoyable for me. If you get too deep the hype can be a bigger experience than whatever you’re hyping up.

I also often find on the other hand that negative opinions often fall outside of my experience when it comes to it, people have great ways of articulating how something should be done and could be better.

I enjoy witnessing the conversation but I don’t ride the rollercoaster anymore. The game itself is the ride.
Expectations or desires can spoil that if you’re not careful.

Still looking forward to this though!

 

i think it'll be Advanced tier, some weird decisions and annoyances but an overall solid 2D experience.

You know the drill at this point.

 

Ian Flynn is starting to get annoying with his "I know something that will happen and it might even be real this time" posts.

 

It literally just means he worked on it.

 

And it's getting annoying

 

I can't fathom how it can be annoying. It's basically his call sign for anything he's working on. Quick, simple, easy to read.

 

He's basically doing his job, lol.

 

I figured he's saying what he does because he's not allowed to say "Hey I worked on this. I did X, Y, and Z". If he's allowed to actually acknowledge what he did so we can record it for posterity, then his posts are even more annoying.

 

Yeah, when he was using it to tease things he couldn't really talk about yet, it wasn't so bad. When it's just used as a call sign for everything that he happens to have his fingers in (which is a lot of things at this point), it's like... what are you even knowingly smiling about anymore!?

I'm excited to see the teaser, though!

 

there is a lot we don't know about the story yet to some extent!!

 

I just wish he’d given them numbers or codenames so we could actually realise when a knowing smile is paying off…

 

I seriously don't get how "#knowingsmile" is annoying, or obnoxious, or whatever, but Ian Flynn has been in my experience a hotbed for absolutely weird takes on the benign decisions he makes and I guess I'll never understand.

I read that, go "oh, so he's involved in this", then move on with my day.

 

Does this mean the prologue will feature random throwbacks like "GEE this is as crazy as the time x did y!"?
