Sonic Social Media Shenanigans (This totally just happened...)

Am I the only person thinks this is getting old? Every post of Sonic's twitter is just some Sonic related memes, and I don't think they are not that funny anymore.

 

Time to order some new sides... XD

I'll admit that some of these get a little tiresome, but it's ones like this that I find really funny. This and the one he did for New Year's are two of my favorites.

 

It'll be better when (more like if) Sonic ever becomes anything more than a good comic series and decent cartoon again. I totally get where you're coming from though. Right now it's kind of like your crack-addled cousin that you used to look up to finally saying he'll go clean. And he does, but nothing more than that. He doesn't go looking for a job or anything, all he does is lay around on your couch all day and crack jokes about how fucked up he was when he was addicted to crack.

 

Social Media related, Sonic's currently trending on Facebook. For some reason it just today decided to get excited about the 25th Anniversary logo.

 

I like it the most when other Twitters get in on the fun, like the mustache scenario last year.

I'm also enjoying this when they find a new way to top themselves. Just when I think they're going run out of good material, a sixth-wall side-buster from an alternate color 9 dimension surfaces to prove me wrong.

I think this social media presence is positive. It's shining positive light on the franchise where as before people were generally feeling pretty down about Sonic. It's genuinely funny and garnering positive goodwill as well as spreading like wildfire and getting other companies and people involved. It's something really positive for Sonic I think - and all that needs to happen now is the upcoming game or games to be good for the anniversary and I think Sonic could be in a wonderful position about a year from now.

I think around Colours/Generations people were feeling positive about the franchise because the games were good. That needs to happen again.

 

I can't really blame him for this though. From a PR standpoint if there's nothing you can promote for the time being there's not much more you can do other than joke around and have fun. That's exactly what is being done.

I'm more so curious about what will happen once Sonic's 25th anniversary plans are revealed. Then the fun really begins.

 

Same here. Until then, we need to wait at least a few months before any new info comes out. Maybe something will happen around April/May/E3, who knows?

 

Well if it follows the same pattern as Generations we'll hear something around Spring. They'd obviously want to kick the marketing in to gear before the anniversary in June. Then again with the classic Sonic/Sonic 1 image tease from Sega of Japan over the New Year I actually think we might be hearing something quite soon. Like, this is the fastest they've ever promoted a game - six months out from the actual anniversary. Eager to see what their plans are and what Sonic Team has been up to all this time.

Personally I think the use of the Sonic image from the Sonic 1 Megadrive box art and new render of Green Hill Zone in the background that maps the start of Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1 indicates a Sonic 1 remake is coming - just idle speculation but this image heavily implies to me that that is one of the games Sonic Team is working on.

 

Stop. Just stop. This is just a 25th anniversary poster. Stop pulling things out of your ass. That's not "idle speculation". It's a god damn poster. Seriously guys stop losing your shit over this. When we get news, we'll get fucking news.

 

Christ guys it was a one sentence post with my own personal thoughts on what the image might hint towards ergo a complete guess - it's not like I was saying "Sonic 1 remake confirmed". I was mainly responding to and trying to do something nice for High Fidelity since he wanted to see the image. No need to jump on me like a SWAT team.
