OK, been out out of the loop for a while, and so wasn't here to witness the black hole that formed due to the old project forum collapsing in on itself. Anyway, I'd like to make a Sonic palette suggestion, the current palette reminds me of Sonic's palette from the Game Gear release of Sonic 1. How about something more akin to the Mega Drive Sonic palettes, like this - Left: original, right: altered Click image for modified base file. Update: Modified the posted animated gifs to use my suggested palette, that way you'll get to see it in motion.
I'm very sorry for all the hard work Chimpo put into that sprite sheet now I saw OrdosAlpha's revision. It looks more Sonic then any other official Sonic ever has.
The shit are you talking about? He changed the fucking pallete, Why would you feel sorry for Chimpo? If he likes that pallete more he has to take 20 seconds to change his pallete. There's not a pixel difference in that. It looks kinda nice(Colors make the sprite look too flat IMO), but it's not like Chimpo's work went to waste because of a pallete swap.
There was a very good reason why we weren't using a Mega Drive-style palette. Unfortunately, I forgot it, but I think that palette change looks like shit with those sprites anyway.
I think Ordos has the best palette. The other is far too light (although I may be saying this because I see it on a dark background). I can't say for sure how it will work against certain backgrounds in-game, though.

Better shade of blue. He doesn't look as turquoise now.
The blue palette is really nice, but I wonder if putting the colours a shade or two brighter would be even better.
Nah, it isn't. It's near perfect. The problem lies in the double light reflection on his head. It's much more noticable and awkward now.

I hope that this isn't the eleventh hour for suggestions, because I wanted to say that the idea of Sonic sloooowly speeding up is weird. Does an Olympic sprinter walk and then gradually get into a sprint? No. I know Sonic does this in the games, but I think that if he did this sort of dashing hop before his legs spun into a wheel would make more sense, and people playing would get that sense of speed faster. Plus, it would shave time off making animations where he's sort of meandering, then meandering faster, you get the idea. By the way, I just got Graphics Gale and did a really, really quick animation of what I'm trying to say that I did in a few minutes. How do I upload the animation I made to this thread? BREAKING NEWS- ...Okay. Looks like Chimpo told us all to fuck off. I was a little late for this party, huh?
