Jump (8 Frames Sonic excluding ball) Seeing as the walking/jogging got a much needed frame-count update, I thought the jump could do with one too. Rotated 45-degree frames are in, and I flipped (and duplicated for smoothness) the ball frame as the shading looked odd the other way around.
Is the jittery nature of this animation an intentional trait? If not, I'll put forth the effort to better sync the frames if needed.
Sorry if this sucks, I'm pretty new to this. The shine on the 'BALL' frame looked just like a flashing white circle, so I dulled it down a bit. Also how do I add the .Gal files to my post?
http://resnet.wm.edu/~amkearns/S4pixlz/BASE.gal. Mainly the middle spike, though I'm not 100% satisfied with it yet. Does the free version of GG allow for GIF exporting? It doesn't seem to allow it on my copy.
I don't mean to be rude (as I haven't kept in touch with this section for a while), but aren't we having an actual running animation? As it's not on either list.
I simply forgot. Don't make a fuss over it. <!--quoteo(post=285215:date=Mar 1 2009, 10:23 AM:name=Tweaker)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tweaker @ Mar 1 2009, 10:23 AM) [/quote] Is the jittery nature of this animation an intentional trait? If someone else wants to do a proper touch up, thehy're more than welcomed to. That's why the Gal file has been provided after all.
I think it looks great the way it is. The jumping makes it seem like Sonic's ready to blast off from his spindash.
To me the first thing that sprang to mind was when you wheel spin a car, you get a bit of a jittery feeling as the tyre skips off the tarmac and tries to find grip

It looks to me almost like Sonic is marching during his slow walk animation. And I can't help but think that Sonic's head is angled the wrong way, you don't usually see it from profile when he isn't moving it. I also think there is way too much flop in his quills. His middle quill looks like it's ready to fall off in his standing sprite.

The frames where you see sonic scrunched up onto a ball seem a little too close. He looks like he's spinning extremly slowly. We should try to space those frames out a little bit. (in terms of turning around I mean) But it really depends because sonic never jumps and spins at the same speed. Something he rolls like a v8 wheel!? :p

Hooray! ^ click link for GAL file. Either way, I highly prefer the somewhat larger, darker eyes as they soften him quite a bit -- that is, he no longer looks anywhere near as stern.
Yeah, I tried a bunch of stuff with the bottom quill, but this was the best I could do -- none of my experiments gave it a decently curvy feel while still being reasonably sized compared to the other quills.
