This is great! Really loving how the newly arranged instruments sound too. I didn't actually expect them to re-arrange Fist Bump considering that the rest of the tracks so far seem to be from older games (SA2, Sonic 3&K), so this was a nice surprise.
I liked the first 35 seconds, when there were no vocals yet. But I don't think the vocals are the problem, it's just that I really don't like this song.
I'm having a hard time believing that this is the best they can do, but anyway have fun playing the guitar!
Fist Bump isn't a great track to start with, I am ambivalent on whether this one is better: So far then, we have a hit, a miss, and an average.
Is Crush 40 still a thing? I don't recall them doing any new songs for some time now, I know they were a part of Sonic Orchestra last year, but I'm curious if it's possible for them to return with vocal track / main theme for a mainline game again...
Last new thing they did was their most recent compilation album and the one original track it had, and that was back in 2019.
They had a track on Team Sonic Racing too. There's just not a lot of Sonic stuff for them to do these days. I guess there's this if you need to scratch the itch. Crushing Thirties (feat. Johnny Gioeli) - YouTube
Wow, it's like a depressing mirror of Sonic Youth from a decade ago. It... kinda hurts to listen to, if I'm being honest. Anyway, neat remix album. Props to the Fist Bump track for literally calling itself "Edgy RMX".
That Beyond the Speed of... remix is really good. But that remix wasn't made for this album, but Sonic Racing, the mobile version of TSR - it's the Green Hill track.
Never underestimate the Jun Senoue rock organ. Everybody's always got their ears out for the Jun Senoue guitars and never hear it coming.
That was… interesting. I don't hate it, and I'm glad Crush 40 tried a softer style just to say they did it, but… *clenches teeth* Jonny's voice isn't particularly well-suited for it. It is what it is. I'd enjoy an instrumental version, at any rate.
