Honestly, I'm kind of bummed out about that. Were they just not able to get the guy back in to record new voice overs?

 

I checked the US Playstation Store when Ryo-F went up just to see the description. Looks like people were wrong about the price. He doesn't cost four dollars. He costs five. As if it wasn't already overpriced at four...

 

You know, I'm a bit pissed that they didn't include this with the release, due to me having the Wii version, but I figured this would inevitably happen. Piss off. $5 is a ripoff for a car. At least add more to it to justify the price. $1-2 is plenty for just a new "vehicle."

 

Wish there would be like, one character to go with three tracks. Or maybe 3 characters and 1 track.

Or maybe $10 worth of content. 6-9 tracks and 3-4 characters. $5 is a bit much...hopefully Sega can discount this stuff as part of a sale or something.

 

If that happened, first I'd cry for a bit, then I'd buy Ryo.
Speaking of money, £3.99 converts to about $6.10. £4.79 is $7.32. Expect your Metal pack to be about $6.50.

I wouldn't count on that. At least not on Xbox Live. Ryo only costs 340 or 20, shit if I remember (4 dollars in comparison to 5) there, and the unlock all code was 480 (5 dollars). Though I think things generally are a bit more expensive on the PSN.

Edit: Just checked. I don't pay attention to the damn prices half the time. Ryo is 320. Unlock all is 400. That Ryo-F is looking more and more like a rip-off.

Yay, it uses the unused 'Hurry Up' theme from Sonic the Fighters (shame it's the starting theme rather than an actual gameplay track though). Don't suppose one of the tracks is the actual Death Egg theme from Sonic and Knux perhaps? (or Sonic 2 for that matter?)

Nice fan service in this pack, I kinda feel Death Egg is too similar to the Egg Fleet course design though (something like a Special Stage track has so much potential).

The DS remixes are pretty impressive actually (may have came off better since they get fuller versions of the songs compared to the truncated versions of the originals in the console versions). An improvement over Chronicles anyway.

 

I'm enjoying a lot of what I'm hearing from the DS version's music, mostly because I know there's effort put into it instead of taking the original music and putting it in as a sound file. Not that the selection is bad, and also not that the console version is obligated to have remixes, but it's nice to hear something new.

 

Strange, I could have SWORN I mentioned it, but I can't see it. Must have said it in IRC. Anyway, it plays Metallic Madness Present from the Japanese Sonic CD.

Hurry Up, noted. I didn't recognize the start theme, and I still don't recognize the ending theme. Will need to look into that. And regarding the music, see the bottom of this post. This is all of the music listed that you can choose from, and the Sega Shop remains empty.

I figured it looks like Final Fortress because they were trying to use some building blocks that already existed in the game, reducing the size of the download. Speaking of the size of the download, it is pretty long: When I started the download I went on a half an hour walk, and when I got back it was almost 50%

Ooh, I like this. The original had a pretty poor rendition of the intro, didn't really sound much like how it should at all.

 

Ah right. The Sonic The Fighters tracks are a nice nod would have been nice to have more retro tunes though (I know there's a situation with the Dreams Come True tracks but that should only really exclude Sonic 1 and 2). If they wanted higher quality tracks they could have always used Howard Drossin's official S+K remix:

Ah I guess that makes sense actually. Still something unique like a bonus stage styled track would likely be worth the wait.

I don't mind the original tunes being used, however it loses out because they're truncated to less than half their original length, usually at a rather awkward point. The DS version actually bothered to make new remixes of nearly the entire tracks.

 

It's possible that Sega decided the price for the Ryo Forklift DLC.

 

So, I was thinking about buying this for the PS3, but I've gotta know one thing...

Can the announcer be shut up?

 

I bought the Ryo Forklift, just because it was Shenmue related. Of course, the higher ups will not see that as a "Shenmue" sale, but rather a sale for ASR. Oh well.

And yes, it's a gigantic rip off. Although I like the epic zoom on Ryo's face when you do his special.
