Unless you skip the celebration before the music ends. Which is what I'm always gonna do.

Bentley Jones does announcer work, too? Ew.

Announcer? He sounds nothing like him. He was talking about finishing cups, a snippet of the song plays.

Bought this today on the 360, been playing around with it since.

Wow! It is certainly a fun, and hard game when you turn the difficulty up. Having different music available to listen to while playing is a great addition...who would have thought Palmtree Panic fits so damn well with Ocean Palace?

Seeing Beat in HD, doing his little victory dance makes me want Jet Set Radio 3 :(

Does anybody else think the characters look a little...dead when they do the victory animations? They don't move any part of their faces at all.

Aside from that, this game is pretty much what Mario Kart SHOULD be.

So who else has the 360 version, and what are your Gamertags? I plan on adding people late tonight.

I'm not sold on this game until they announce Jack Cayman as downloadable content.

NiGHTS is expected too of course.

I forgot to add this to my post before...

But the stages look far more lively in a racing game. Who would want a Sonic level based on the Casino Park that Sumo present? It looks so brilliant, with the floating dice and falling chips. Maybe proving that a 3rd part developer should take over Sonic games? Because honestly, some of the race my eyes have been on the backgrounds, admiring them, together with the music, it just fits perfectly.

Agreed, but Sumo is a second party, not third. It seems that Sumo might be able to do Sonic justice and still keep the series within SEGA.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves; they can make a racing game, but we don't know how they would make a Sonic game.

Hence why I said "might". They sure do capture the style damn well, but that's not enough to make a whole Sonic game.

Now, with that said, they should go ahead and make Jet Set Radio 3 already!

Yeah, that bugged me a bit too. Bit weird seeing characters like Sonic & Knuckles get post-victory close-ups and speaking lines when their mouths (despite being modeled) don't move.

My source tells me there's a chance this particular release could be pushed back even farther than Tuesday due to the situation.

    But, hey...no SecuROM...right?

    ----

Also, I wouldn't mind if there were some sort of rudimentary time trial leaderboard established here for course records, just within this community. Would that be better suited to a separate thread or a continuation of this one?

Let's hop the Steam version sells the best for the PC platform and that the Securom versions, tank.

Look what I've just discovered in the DS version. About the halfway of the game's credits, the music turns into Crush 40's "Into the wind" theme, just after "So much more", both in real audio, not midi thing.

They are in different formats, that's for sure.

So much more is a STRM, this "Into the Wind" may be the audio track of a video. (Which I can't rip).

Man, those hairpin turns on the Super Monkey Ball courses sure don't let you rest when playing as someone with lower handling like Banjo, though I guess ridiculous-to-navigate paths are befitting of that series. Maybe I should just be glad there's less opportunities for FALL OUT.

    Yes.

    YES.

I always knew Thrill of the Feel had an awesome soundtrack for a legitimate Sonic racing game. I'm glad they used the most fitting song from it.
