Here's a sort of unofficial skypecast we did last night: http://sonic.radio.su/shows/scr_rollercoas...uly.22.2008.mp3 I'm thinking of setting up a mailing list so people get an email when an impromptu skype is happening so they can listen in at the time.
Reguarding the podcast: I've been really busy lately and still kind of am, so it might be hard to pull out a new episode. I'm thinking we will, but we'll keep it maybe a bit simpler or shorter this time. What I want to do is the same thing as last podcast, except shorten down the main topic discussion and replace Spam readings with Mailbag readings. I'm curious how well that segment can work out and really want it to bed there because a lot of podcasts have that sort of feature. And I've also noticed it's one of the most favored parts of those podcasts as well. I'll start a mailbag topic and we'll do a recording at the end of the week. Most likely Saturday and then edit it in a day or so. tl;dr - we might have a podcast for Monday or Tuesday.
The intent is to do it for this episode so we can do a good test of the mailbag segment. If it's decided to change the main topic segment to be smaller permanently, that'll depend on what people think of it. If more people enjoy the main segment being as long or only a little longer then the other segments, then maybe we will tone it down. But for now, that's not the concern. Right now I'm just worried about getting good segments people will really want to listen to. Once we do that, we can strip things down to what's best and run from there.
I'm almost always busy on Sunday evenings... then again, in two weeks my living situation will be turned on its head.
I really enjoyed Episode 0, but I have one complaint; sound quality. The sibilance, plosives, distortion, and volume differences between speakers really, REALLY detracted from the dialogue for me. For the next one, it would be really nice if the AIM clients were muted and microphone handling was improved (fixed in position to avoid rattling, maybe improvise some pop filters, and try to soundcheck the volume together before recording.)
