Sonic RDX Update

    I am very amazed at all the work put into this. Icecap is so fresh and new, and Carribean Crush has more multiple routes than I've ever seen in a 3D Sonic game before. 0_0 It just sucks that the corkscrew in CCZ isn't working yet.. oh well, brilliant job to all of you! You just made the best SA1 hack ever! :thumbsup:

    I loved those videos there. I must say part 3 of Ice Cap was just beautiful. I might actually have to install SADX to try this out.

    I love everything I see, but one thing I'm not loving is what I hear. It seems that the weakest part of this hack is its music, which is both poorly done production-wise and in terms of creating some sort of catchy, upbeat, Sonic-esque melody. I'd offer my services in making the production quality better, but that wouldn't take away from the fact that I don't like how the songs are put together in general. That Windy & Ripply remix is kind of neat, though.

    Is it possible to provide an alternate music pack or something? I'd prefer not to replace them myself, to be honest.

    Which one? The light shoes are in Station Square. Also, stop using free cam in those damn videos hinchy, I spent hours making those camera files =P

    I'll work on remastering the tunes (I made 'em), so thanks for the heads-up, Tweaker. I'm absolutely crushed that I'm doing nothing but contributing fail to the project, but I'll try my damndest to be good, I swear.

    I'm working on a 'real-instruments' version of the planet flora music from Ristar, which might be fitting for Carribean Crush if you want it.

    Its games like this that make me wish I had at least one computer in my house that wasn't total shit. :argh:

    I mean really. A revamped fan-made Sonic title that is just low tech enough for me to maybe get working? If only my actual good laptop I got for Christmas a few years back didn't have a fried motherboard. I would so play the shit out of this.

    Just a preview of the contest build. The version I release for the contest will be really short though, but CC will be 99%, ice cap will be 78% done. Speed highway will probably only be like 25% done.

    SA2-esque light dash is now available, just jump near the rings and jump-cancel.
    There's a good chance I'll release the 3-level hacking contest demo some time today.

    Really love Sonic Adventure, and I like your modifications to it as well.

    Keep up the good work Dude, hopefully we get an early build of the Dreamcast version soon so you can have some more fun with things they accidentally included on their part. :D

    OK, I'm finished with the hacking contest build:

    This demo contains:
    - Caribbean Crush (99% completed, now set at night time!)
    - Ice Cap (80% completed, still has afew bugs and the layout is still a tad empty)
    - Speed Highway (30% completed, pending new research and more time)
    - Mystic Ruins Clearing
    - Sa2 style light-Dash (use jump-cancel to light dash without charging)
    - New supersonic texture (meant to emulate the DC version)

    Special thanks to MainMemory for finding the Action modifier. Download this and play it, Its alot different than the last build I posted. Also, this is my official entry. I'll post a gameplay video later.

    There was a bug in Station Square for those of you who have already downloaded this, download the fix at:
    http://x-hax.cultnet.net/SETSS04S.BIN

    and put it into /system

    Watching that video gave me goosebumps.

    This is some seriously top notch stuff! The level design was extremely slick looking, and your choice in music—wherever it's from—totally fit the feel of the level perfectly. I'm also pleased by how much better things flow with an SA2-styled light dash—the corkscrew formation was very cool!

    Awesome work as always. :)

    I'm curious about one thing though. I'm seeing a few sections that look pretty much exactly the same as the original. Is that because there isn't a method of reliably editing the level geometry, or just because you didn't see any reason to change it?

    No problem if it's the latter, just curious.

    A little bit of both actually - in some sections, like the run-along-side-of-building part I didn't change anything because the camera is on rails and the level would break if I changed those areas, but I didn't change many of the geometry pieces because they fit the theme of the level I was going for (speed highway upgraded)

    I agree completely. If I'm not mistaken, it appears to be a remix of history of the moon, Eirin Yagokoro's theme from the eighth touhou game, Imperishable Night. It fits brilliantly.
