If not those it may be Green Cave or White Cave (or both?) from Sonic Riders, White cave in particular is what immediately came to mind. Looked like we also have cool edge too and one of the portals showed what may have been asteroid coaster? I couldn't quite figure out which portal they were about to go through
Yeah I think Rivals just isn't really considered part of the "racing" lineage, it's much more readily a competitive action game or a "battle-racer". I'm more bothered that they just lumped all of Sonic Riders together, but the two sequels weren't the best received so I can understand it. ANYWAY GALACTIC PARADE IS BACK LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I thought I heard at some point that they weren't allowed to use any emulator for stuff like this (which is a shame because you could definitely use the widescreen hacks on some of these). Regardless, PPSSPP plays Rivals 1 just fine, and I'm gonna have to see about 2 when I get to it.
Wouldn't know on that one, I know it's not stopped them before with the 'not quite official' versions of the games. What was that energy drink creator spotlight they had a few years ago? That one literally stole other youtubers footage that had uploaded modded and emulated content.
I hope there'll be unlockable character cosmetics, Sonic looks so underdressed riding on the extreme gear without his Riders fit lol
Team races being back is neat. Online lobbies for them are gonna be DOA though I just really want a dedicated extreme gear trailer. I want to know how they work. Board customization is peak though, i was worried youd only be able to use the same one for every character.
Seems like a Team mode is back, but nothing indicates the unique team mechanics from TSR are back. Seems like it's just the standard team splitting you see in other games. I'd love to be wrong though.
I do hope the team mechanics come back, they were pretty fun (though, not "this is the gimmick of the game" fun).
I bought a PSTV (Those set top Vita's) just to have the Rivals games playable again after bricking my PSP using custom firmware on a faulty memory card. As for the recap/trailer, ehh. Nothing I've seen has changed my apathetic interest in this release. I just can't get over how much I disliked the driving model in the demo, but I would love to see them take feedback to heart between then and release (but that's just me huffing copium). If anything, the slight interest the demo gave has instead been directed to booting up my old PS3 copies of All-Star Racing and grinding for the achievements I never got back then. I don't know if its fair to Sega to have the mindset of "wait until the price drops / it goes on sale", while I plan to buy a Switch 2 just to play the new Mario Kart at launch, since I know Nintendo hardly ever does price drops for their games, and instead relies on digital pack-in bundles to recoup costs. Ahh well though, maybe reviews at launch might change my mind. Who knows?
That video is so annoying that I barely even scrolled through for the new gameplay footage. The Sonic Rings series, presented by Gfuel. I also saw comments regarding needing to use official sources of gameplay, I think it was Tyson in the Tailstube thread referring to it when people pointed out using the artistic rendition of the SEGASonic Intro instead of the intro itself (since they had no way to capture the actual arcade hardware) They have used mods in the past, but it's possible there's a bit of leeway to where it just has to be a version of the game they released in the past by technicality, so using the Chao Cam mod for SA2 PC for the Sonic Symphony is fine but not if they used the freecam in SA2 on Dolphin. There's also that really weird instance of them using the Sonic Advance Revamped remake of the Sonic Advance intro, idk what was up with that. + - Would there be anything wrong with them sourcing a hardware mod for DS/GBA capture?
They could have worked with someone much worse than Sam, who is somewhat capable of putting out halfway decent where he's not screaming all the time. But yeah, the video still sucks.
Funny enough, it was another Rings Series video. Also wildly enough, there's obviously some widescreen hax going on in the same video. I don't know what to believe anymore!
Ah, makes sense why I haven't seen it then. As for the Heroes gameplay, my best guess is it's running on a Wii with a widescreen hack, which would put it in the same vein as the Chao Garden free cam mod.
This might come off as a no-shit question but how come you all here tend to have a less pessimistic view on CrossWorlds than Sonic Twitter? Like I go there and this game is ruined or doomed every second - and even when non-fans are positive about it - you get quote tweets about how it's not worth it cause "Mario is 10x better than Sonic" (genuine quote there). I mean it feels like a damned if you do, damned if you don't. If this game had bad reception, we're cooked. If the game had good reception - which it does so far - then we're in denial. So when does anyone get to be good, yk? I'm not even saying you're all blind consumers or anything, I'm just saying you're not fucking insufferable like every week on Sonic Twitter
You should really stop worrying about randos on Twitter. Do you like the game? That's all that matters. Besides, Twitter is far from the biggest social media site.
It looks fun and I'll probably get to play it way before mario kart because I'm not gonna be able to drop 500 dollars to play the new mario kart when it launches lol. Also twitter's algorithm is designed to promote more divisive takes because it feeds engagement which is what the website needs to stay profitable. While a forum like here just shows stuff chronologically so everything is on an even playing field
We can go through a mountain of gripes and reasons why Twitter is so unpleasant. Here's what I think. It's engagement, there's a limit on how much interaction, engagement and validation you get from spaces like this. Over on Twitter and other big social media apps, they're basically designed to feed you endless engagement, and that compels someone to get more inflammatory with their opinions. Say something to piss people off, that's how the game works, it's also validating, whether you get positive feedback or negative feedback, as long as people are talking about it, that's the goal. It's internet conversations as blood sports.
