I hate teasers like this because they basically show us nothing. All I can do is speculate. In this instance tho I think Sega is smart for just doing a teaser to let folks know a new sonic game is on the horizon (likely to come out next year). Rn now Movie 3 is on the horizon, Sonic X Shadow Gens is the new title, and a bunch of shadow content is being added to Sonic’s mobile games. Best to keep the focus on that stuff for now
Maybe CrossWorlds means it will feature both karts and extreme gears and have you shifting between them with each being in its own dimension or something like that.
In the tried and true (debatable), decades-old Sonic game marketing formula, not enough information is disclosed for me to decide if I am interested or not as a consumer.
I'm honestly more scared that you got it right in the money and that it's supposed to be every version of Seaside Hill in a single track.
Can we please get other tracks besides Seaside Hill? Give us other places, something new at least like Hang Castle or Studiopolis.
The press release says this (from an IGN article) I still have some copium for Sega characters but I really do think this is Sonic only.
You know what? I sorta got that impression alone just from the logo and how the Apple Arcade Sonic Racing's logo differs from Team Sonic Racing. As someone who has played my fill during the free month trial I used when playing Dream Team, it isn't a bad game per say. Totally designed for mobile touch devices first, but I played it with a PS4 controller. If they can improve the handling model, it might be an enjoyable game. I'm hesitantly optimistic. -Edit: Also, it's no better time than now to show off this old character mock-up from 2017 when comparing the Sonic Cast to the Mario Kart 8 cast. Obviously I'm shooting for the moon here, but if I can get at least get double the Sonic related roster to the cast from TSR, then I'll be content. Spoiler: Large Image
If this is a Sega crossover or All-Star type of thing, then I'm very interested in the roster. The last one was in 2012 and so much has changed since then, since it's hard to believe two Sega crossover racing games exist and yet it doesn't have any Yakuza or Puyo Puyo characters. And now that Persona is a big hit, they would probably throw in Joker too.
I feel there's a high chance this is going to be a big multi-canon Sonic game lmao. Game Sonic, movie Sonic, Prime, and maybe even more obscure pulls (SatAM, Boom, etc) if they're feeling extra pander-y. Hardlight Studios running the show just makes it sound all the more possible, as time has shown they love nothing more than making millions of skins.
I honestly feel @Azookara is most likely correct. Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic dimension mix at the very least. We might get the exciting fusion of Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Sky Sanctuary, Seaside Hill, Death Egg and Planet Wisp.
TGA seem to have wrongly said this was a Hardlight joint at first (that post's now been deleted). Sega's post says it's being made by "the elite Sega racing game team". Which raises all kinds of questions. I think it's most likely the people who make Initial D The Arcade, seeing as they're under the same division as Sonic Team now - but who knows...
Kart racers are incredibly boring to me at this point - even Mario Kart. Wake me up in 30 years when we get Sonic R 2 or Riders 4.
This is giving me vibes similar to this Most likely just a callback to Sonic Riders, I don't think it's implying a return to extreme gear. Maybe they'll remake Metal City for karts, that would be a cool track.
