I finished the second release of episodes a bit ago but didn’t wanna bump the topic.
Anyway I’m enjoying it. I agree this portrayal of Sonic is a little too cocky. Chaos Sonic is really cool. I love getting another robot clone. I hope he gets a toy. I wish they would have raised his quills as Prism Sonic but maybe it would have been too close to Hyper Sonic cause of how he glows. I hope they give us one more other world. I know there’s the empty one that Nine wants to use but I mean one that’s actually another version with another Tails, Amy, Knuckles and Big.
I assume now they’re not going to include SatAm since breaking the Prism is what created the other worlds. Also it’s supposed to be canon to the games. For now at least. This would be an odd and complicated way to introduce that. I think they will eventually bring in the Freedom Fighters but not directly from the old cartoon. Another thing is New Yoke City is basically another Mobo/Robotropolis setting so even so they probably wouldn’t have 2 similar worlds.
Do we know this is supposed to be canon with the games?
set in the same world as the games -so all characters and their appearances are the same as games- but appears to be on it's own canon, so like IDW comics basically
We've had it repeatedly stated that Prime is in the same timeline as the games. Yes, it has a couple of dumb glaring contradictions. No, that doesn't make a difference.
It’s canon til it isn’t. Doesn’t make sense, but I guess it’s easy enough to just say “something like Sonic Prime happened in the timeline but without the contradictory parts.” I doubt anything else will acknowledge it anyway.
In Sonic Frontiers 2, Sonic will run past a rock and he'll say something about how it looks similar to the Paradox Prism.
Yes they said that, just wanted it to make it more clear how it directly connects to the games -not much-
Well, you're not making that clear with a statement like "appears to be its own canon". It's not it's own canon. Like it or not, the official position is that it's part of the main timeline. The "like the IDW comics basically" bit makes it even worse, since those are even more integrated. SEGA allows the games to reference their characters and concepts by-name. It's part of the timeline.
Yeah my bad, didn't make myself clear, just meant to say it's doing it's own unique thing generally that can make it feel separate even though it's on the same world - i should have said same canon-
But i guess that could be said about the games too to a large extent so it doesn't matter anyway
I'm a Doctor Who fan. "Canon" in that series is everything, including and especially the things that contradict something else. But the most important thing is that the TV shows takes precedent. Anything in the other material can happen except if the TV show contradicts it.
That's how I see Sonic canon. Sonic Prime is canon. It happened. Anything that contradicts the games, like Sonic acting like Chaos Sonic is the first time Dr. Eggman has built a robot him, is simply supplanted by the games. Same goes for IDW. Everything happened/happens until the games say they don't.
Because realistically, if Sonic Team wants to, they will just retcon or change things around if it suits the new game they're making.
Doctor Who is also a good example in that the show is obsessed with bringing back past concepts and continuity while also constantly contradicting itself at every turn, and it's just not that big a deal unless the particular story you're viewing happens to have a really terrible script.
I'm just gonna imagine the rebooted Archie lore as the one true canon and nobody can stop me.
Couple sure has increased in how many it covers.
The amount of difference it makes has not. Personally I recommend taking the advice you gave me and not reopening dumb circular arguments with snarky remarks that will just annoy us both.
Not trying to reopen the debate, just being snarky. Plus the plot holes have increased since, such as Sonic's reaction to Chaos Sonic.
"Is that a... knockoff me?"
There's, like 4 knock-off Sonics, 27 if considering Rocket Metals' Mecha Sonic Model no. 27. I'd get if it was "The Chaos Council made a robot me?!" but that line makes it sound like a foreign concept to Sonic.
Season 3 trailer, no release date as of now.
Please trash, missed some context
Nine just wants to use the map editor of the multiverse.
Looks good, I love the idea of having Nine as a villain.
I wish I could be excited for the Chaos robotic versions of the other characters, but I'm fearful they'll have lame comedic voices similar to Chaos Sonic to appeal more to the younger crowd. I'm sorry, I absolutely hated Chaos Sonic. I prefer the silent evil of Metal Sonic.
