The raw demo tracks for the Sonic the Hedgehog OVA (1996) got released today, so I cut them apart without recompressing them, tagged them appropriately, and have them here for you to enjoy. Also added a track used in the ADV DVD release.
Thank you so much for the download! I do have to point out it is missing the track for the Egg Generator scene. Other than that awesome job keeping the audio quality the same.
Of all my media players, I loaded it up in Winamp, because why wouldn't I?
"..Night and universe, ???? and ocean, food and poop, in my dream and in real life..."
Oh god I heard this and can't unhear it, can anyone confirm? @1:49
I think "foot and pool" is more likely.
Unfortunately, food and poop fits better conceptually
Not if "pool" is relating to "ocean" in the previous line. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think I just heard the whole thing correctly, which explains why you hear "woman ocean"
"..Night and universe, womb and ocean, food and poop, in my dream and in real life..."
Haha this is so cheesy I love it. And that 909 snare
EDIT: have the people that posted this added any limiting/compression to this? seems loud for a 90s release!
What an absolutely cheesy sound. I've always loved this soundtrack, I'm glad it can be heard and preserved properly in this form.
So glad someone mentioned Land Of Darkness. It's definitely one of the best of the OVA songs, and deserves an official release. The production is immaculate, whew. It stay stuck in my head.
If it helps with the lyrics discussion, I ran the source version of the song through Spleeter to try to get a cleaner vocal signal.
Here's the file that Spleeter gave for the vocal track. It might be useful for DJ sampling or something too if anyone wants to take a crack at that, even though it's really not a perfect isolation.
EDIT: For some extra fun, here's the instrumental it gives after removing the vocals and attempting to split all of the instrument parts. I lowered the volume slightly to avoid clipping, thus the new .flac filetype. It's not a perfect instrumental by any means, but it might be fun to sing along to anyway.
(Scroll down a bit until you see "OVA" mentioned. It won't link to that particular status for some reason)
Also, has anyone made a note that apparently Jun Senoue reached out to the OVA musician recently, and says he misses the Sonic OVA? Strange that it's brought up shortly after the demos dropped.
