Is that really appropriate discussion? Especially since it seems he has no problem interacting with said individuals...

  2. I know, I know, it was stupid to bring it up, but it irks me that he's acting all civilised on Sonic Retro but then when Armada makes one or two stupid comments at SFGHQ, he basically told him we're all assholes.

But yeah, I'll take it to PM.

I wasn't aware two over the course of two years meant constant. In any event, don't worry, this is the last one. Promise.

This engine shows a lot of promise, I really like the way physics works. Thanks for including an option to disable the music and allowing gamepad support, also for the next release (not trying to cramp the old school style), I would enjoy it more if it had a widescreen option since a lot of people are using widescreen monitors now. Another thing I'd love to see is if the run dash could be done a bit faster to speed up the gameplay. The only real thing stopping me from feeling the Sonic CD gameplay more is how Sonic walks he starts running, I just like the Sonic CD sprites better, maybe you could include an option to choose your favorite sprite in game or something.

This is probably one of the best PC based Sonic fan games I've played, nice work. I hope you put Time Attack in the final version to. :)

One thing that's been on my mind for a while.

Will Tails be playable or not? It seems like he should be because of the title screen but I can't be sure.

Also this fangame is great so far. The engine far surpasses the one used in the 07 demo and the level is really well made, along with a great song in the background (I love the speed shoe music)

This is pretty nice, however spinning down the hills and such does not quite yeld the speed as it would in MD Sonic games :)
I loved the intro, and its music. The stage music was rather meh, but speed shoes and super music is great.

Right, except I don't give a damn, and neither does anyone else in this thread. Keep your external conflicts off this board—I don't care what cockfighting you have an incessant need to persue, just don't persue it here.

I don't appreciate people casually strolling by and taking gigantic steaming dumps on this thread. This is for the discussion of the latest Sonic Nexus demo and the newest Retro Sonic engine release, and that's how it's going to stay. Any more bullshit is getting trashed. You've been warned.

So I just played this and must say I'm rather impressed, this really plays very well.
I have to disagree with the ones who say "omg this feels just like Sonic CD" though. While the graphics have the right style (which isn't hard when using ripped ones, but at least they're used with taste), the physics don't feel like Sonic CD at all. You don't slow down at all when pressing forward in mid-air at high speed, and you have few to no control over your jump if you do so while rolling. After from these flaws in the mechanics, I really liked the demo and will be looking forward to the final release. Keep it up!

Wow dude, freaking amazing release. You weren't kidding when you said you were about to drop a bomb shell after SAGE.

Anyways, my only concern, and I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, has to do with the fact that the levels seem empty. I think it's less the actual design and more object placement, but you have told me you were rushing to get the objects placed so I'll assume that's why they seem lacking.

The gimmick designs are really cool, I just sortof wish you would see them more often or maybe more in variety, because sometimes the level drags on with nothing interesting and then suddenly pops up an "lol enemy", very similar to the gripes some have with the Advance\Rush games.

Yeah, I'd say more than anything else we need more doodads with this level. Little bushes in the background, trees, flowers, maybe a rock here or there. Yeah, we don't have much of that stuff at all. It's an issue.

I'm curious as to how long we few Mac Users have to wait for the demo. I personally am very interested in the project, especially the well-done music by Hunter Bridges, and to see the progress of Taxman's Retro Sonic engine, but I haven't been able to test out the actual gameplay since the demo hasn't been released for Mac.

I wasn't rushing object placement, but the lack of animated flowers or more foliage to make the level feel empty at spots. It's something I didn't really care about, because I was more concerned with people playing the game. I'll touch it up for later.

When it comes to badnik placement, I mentioned earlier that 1-2 badniks were placed poorly, but there has to be some enemies directly in your path. Some of the Genesis zones did it occasionally (Aquatic Ruin's drill bot things come to mind first). When it came down to level design, pits/spike/badniks are sometimes the appropriate consequence of trying to hold right to win.

I am also looking forward to the Mac demo. Based on all the good comments and the gameplay footage on youtube, I am very impressed. I can't wait to try it out for myself.

Eeeeventually, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles will be playable. Knuckles is due to be added to the title screen for the next build. As for others? No Shadow. No Amy. No Mighty. No Espio, Vector, Charmy. No Ray the Squirrel, no Poochie the Dog, and of course nobody who came into existence after the release of Sonic and Knuckles. Did I leave anyone out? No? Good. Well, I suppose I left out Metal Sonic and Nack, but they are givens. That isn't to say we won't do unlockables though, none of which are necessarily going to follow all the rules.

Alright sounds good. Only other character besides the original 3 that I'd care about playing as is Metal Sonic, the rest I don't care about.

At first I was all "Oh great. Forest stage. Generic gimmicks, Angel Island knockoff. Yawn." Then I played on and I actually love it better than Retro Sonic itself! And it had Eggmanland! Keep up the good work. I see great things on this game.

Eggman Land? I suppose you are referring to the Eggtimer Fortress that shows up in the opening video and on the island?

I think he is talking about Egg Garden Zone from the SAGE 2007 build of Retro Sonic.

Just letting you all know that the Macintosh version is now up and running. There is a common issue involving the sounds not playing... if thats the case, restart the application. It seems to be related to the bass library on Mac.
